Hot Date

  • He was cute. (big green eyes and dimples)
  • He was super easy to talk to.

  • He wanted to go shopping with me. (Even did little dances in the fitting rooms to properly display the merchandise.)

(these are pictures from our back to school shopping...no camera yet (getting one today)...apparently fitting rooms bring out the disco in Gabe.)

  • He felt like discussing the fashion sense of those around us. ("That lady is too dark: black hair, black clothes and her lipstick was kind of black.")
  • He decided on Cinnabon for dessert and even shared some with me--don't tell my diet, as I'm only eating dessert on the weekends. ("This is even a little bit better than Krispy Kreme.")
It's when you spend one-on-one time with your kids that you remember why you wanted to have them in the first place.

It is true, when you spend one on one time with your kids, you do remember why you wanted to have them in the first place...It's when they are ALL TOGETHER that you forget!!

So true. We rarely get one on one time but when I do I remember that I LOVE my kids. He is so cute dancing in the dressing room!

one-on-one... so that is what I am doing wrong!

What a fun mom you are. I need to go and do something like that with Jackson so he has warm fuzzy memories of me- and I will bring the camera along too so that when he is a grumpy teenager, I can pull the pictures out and remind myself that there was a time that my boy liked me.

I agree. I like each of my children so much as individuals. It's the whole living-all-together-in-peace-and-harmony part that's killing me.

so cute - hey I have a 6 year-old to hook him up with in a few years.

It's a good thing we have those fun times once in a while that are reminders of how much fun our kids are and how much we really do love them.

Oh Jessica, I totally agree! If only we could have them one at a time! (OK, most people do). Same goes for the husband when you are alone with him, "Oh yeah, I LIKE you!"

Yeah, you people that have kids one at a time...Hah!

Try having THREE!!!

Funny, though, when we would see other pregnant people we used to say to them, oh, you're just having one? I guess they were the lucky ones.

Great post. He is SO CUTE! I also wanted to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jane's quote about Ursula. SO FUNNY!!! Sometimes his plan doesn't sound so bad (just tell me what to do)!!!

Are you a little worried about his knack for fashion? Maybe you have a little Armani on your hands.

He IS really cute. The older they get, the more interesting they are. And funny, there is a whole lot of funny with older kids. It makes me wonder why people send their kids to boarding school. Just when they are good company, then they send them away.

I feel warmth in my heart from this post. I'm not really used to it.

Gabe is a cutie! By the way, your last blog was hilarious, but I thought I would comment on this one since I figured my comment would get lost in the other million comments that are on that post. But since you are the Master Commenter (do you like it? I made it up myself), you definitely deserve it!
Thanks again for the fun time in Spokane, when I actually unpack my camera (hopefully tomorrow) I will post a blog of the fun we had!

Okay I really needed this post today (see my blog). I think it's time to spend some one on one time with Levi. Since Faith's been born, we haven't had a time where it's just the two of us unless it's at night which totally doesn't count. You've inspired me to make a date with him. He asked me today while I was spending time with Faith, when it's going to be HIS turn with me. I felt like a horrible mom.
