A little token of my gratitude

Dear Megan,

Thank you for, 11 years ago, having this great idea to host a Christmas card making get together. Thank you for starting to invite me 7 years ago. Thanks for continuing to send me invitations, even when I had moved to Utah for a few years (even though they made me miss you all so much!) Thank you for decorating your house so beautifully, so we all feel so welcome and peaceful:

Thank you for inviting all the people that I love, but never get to talk to, (because we all know that if some one's not in your ward, you just don't get to hang out, no matter how much you like them!)

Thanks for all the fabulous card ideas. I try not think mine are lame and just enjoy the beauty around me.

Thanks for making the cute cute aprons that we all wore last year, for the big tenth anniversary party!

Thanks for all the dinner and treats we get to eat all night. (My hips, however, are kind of mad at you this morning.)

Thanks to your nice husband, for putting up with the female-ness year after year and late into the night.

My cards aren't anywhere near done:

but thank you so much for one of the highlights of my holiday season. This is just one of the many benefits of being your friend!

love,

Jessica

Even though I gave you crap about this before, I'm somewhat jealous because I wish I had a group like that here where I got together with the girls and did cards. Ya know, or something like that. I have many friends, but none of them are friends with each other, so I usually do lots of hangouts in twos. A big group is sooo much more fun though.

Dear Megan, please don't invite me to your party because I can't make a craft/card to save my life, but please post all of your cute ideas, what they cost, and then tell us what it would cost to pay you to make them and then allow me to tell people I did.

Dear Jessica, you are a lucky girl to have that awesome friend, and genius for documenting the whole thing, esp. the clock! And your skinny thighs in that pic.

To expand on Paige, please tell us how much everything costs so we can feel better or worse about buying our stuff.

Can I send a virtual card this year? And how come all of your friends are so cute?

I have issues with card-making. All of the homemade cards I see are so adorable. But making them is really hard for me. One time I had a group like this and I loved it, but every time I tried to give my cards that I had made to someone, I wanted to keep them cause I worked so hard. Getting together for girls nights are the best.

I'm with Danae, after working on them so hard, I feel like I am sending a child thru the mail and what if that person throws it away?

I just don't send cards anymore. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Can't wait to see your card (even if it is at Lorena's!)

I LOVE making cards. What a great idea. I think I may have to start having a party myself. Any excuse for a party with food sounds fun to me.

How fun. Do you make the cards there or come with some pre-made cards, or both? I want to do it! I guess I need to get some friends!

We just started a card-making club. Unfortunately for me, last month my card was the ugliest one. I will NOT be outdone this month. I'm jealous! You get to make them all together- we had to make ours on our own, and then give them away together. That's very fun!

I have never heard of this idea. What fun friends and a cute way to get into the holiday spirit!

I am actually worried that now after all these people said they wanted to be on my card list, they are expecting something homemade!

Wow...

I have one the receiving end of Romney Family Christmas cards for several years (7?,8?). They are ALWAYS the most darling, most creative, and most anticipated for the Skinner family.

So I thank you too Megan, because I love getting Jessica's cards.

What a great tradition.

It is times like these when I miss America almost more than I can bear. What a wonderful idea and an even better tradition. You never cease to amaze me with your ability to do, well, just about everything. Hooray for Megan too!

This sounds like fun. Maybe I should do this. Could you email me more details? Does she provide the ideas and supplies and you pay for them? Do you have people just bring their own stuff. I think it would be fun.

That does sound like so much fun. I'd really be on the ball though since I make Valentines cards. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had them done by Christmas. Please post a pic of the completed card.

What a fun tradition! I'm looking forward to getting one in the mail. So does she really decorate her house for Christmas this early? I love it!

Looks like loads of fun. I hate crafts, and cards, and scrapbooks (because I'm horrible at them), but I'd totally be in to wear a cute apron, eat and chat. Nothing better than that.

Love talented and creative friends. I try to surround myself with people like that so I can mooch off their great ideas and claim them as my own. Okay, I will give them credit but only if somebody asks.

please post more specefic ideas, I need inspiration.

and p.p., you have no idea how jealous I am.

That looks like it was really fun. I did mine this weekend, too, but I didn't get a whole party dedicated to it. Maybe I'll have to start doing that in my little corner of the world.
