Holiday Thoughts by Jane Romney

(Jane, in happier times...last Christmas morning)

1. "Is Christmas toomahwoh yet?" (Every day I get this question and I try to explain. We even have advent calendars to prove it. She just doesn't get it and often cries when I tell her no.)

2." Seth bettoh watch out for Santa cause he stoles stuff." (She was listening to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and got a little worried for Seth, due to the plastic bunny he pilfered when he was at a friend's house last week.)

3. "Why are you twirling the car like that, Mom?" (This comment happened after I turned the corner, IN THE SNOW, a teensy bit too fast.)

4. "I sink that Christmas is about to be cancelled cause aw da snow is melted." (We had a ton of snow, but it got rained out two days ago and she is deeply concerned.)

I've always wondered why people do Christmas pajamas, but little Jane looks so cute in hers I think I will have to get some.

Ain't nothing more persistent than a four-year-old, huh?

Could your family be any cuter? That look on her face is priceless and I agree with Celia that the PJ's are too. I love her and I don't even know her. But one day I will.

Tell Jane that Santa comes will come even if it is 70 degrees and sunny outside. In fact, if that DOES happen here in LL, then you know my Christmas wish has been granted.

Am I the only one who dreams of Christmas vacation spent in warm weather?

Celia used to call us when Claire was four and whisper through the phone, "Claire is driving me CRAZY! She talks too much and asks too many questions!"

My four year old asks the same question and he says it the SAME way. I love it. I will be sad when he outgrows the excitement. BTW- I heard that half your state is drowning. Are you guys good? Rough year to live in the NW, huh?

She is adorable! She must take after her mother, huh?

That is too funny...I love how you re-create her speach in writing!

I can't wait for Christmas morning pics of all the Romney kids and this years Christmas pjs. Question about themed clothing - do they wear hand-me-downs too, or does everyone get their own new stuff every year?

Very cute!
Ella is complaining that we can't drive on the snow now that it's melted. I have assured her it's coming back this weekend, right during our move.

Amy--we're on the eastern side, where it's less rainy (slightly) so we are fine.

Linsey--they used to get new clothes but that's ridiculous now, so they wear hand me downs (except they get new Christmas PJs on Christmas Eve).

I loved this post and that you wrote it just as she said it. You will always have it to look back on.

Nathan asks me everyday if it's Christmas yet, and we have a little advent calendar too. They just don't get it.

That is so sweet. I am really enjoying these years while my kids are still believers.

Last year after sliding down the street on the ice my boys said "do that again!"

Good for you for getting that in writing. She's so cute! It helps that they're cute. Heavenly Father does that on purpose so we'll keep them when they're naughty.

I have sadness about Gabe growing too fast, until I read about how cute Jane is, then I am okay with it, but then I have fears that my kid will be big and boring. If he is, will you lend me one of yours?

Paige said...

Why don't you just grant Gabe his wish and celebrate Hanukkah too? It's the third night I think, so hurry and give her a present!

Linsey, they do get hand me downs, but frequently a new one too so it can match the others, thus the others are jealous of the baby because she has more stuff. Sol didn't get a Halloween shirt this year because last year's still fit him. The holiday rules vary, adjust them to your liking, just keep the rules, dang it.

Oh, that's dawling. Darn, it isn't as cute coming from an adult.

It is so hard for kids to comprehend days and weeks and years and centuries and milleniums and eons and infinity. Oh ya, me too. How many more days til Christmas?

i think it's cute that you speak her language. she is a very insightful little girl!

You are so good at writing baby talk! It make me feel like I could really hear her speaking. Such cute questions and comments. Although if you are hearing them all day they probably aren't so cute.

Jessica (and Paige), you will be proud to know that I have just purchased Christmas themed pajamas and clothing for Caleb so that I can be the follower you want/need us all to be.

And, because they were on sale, I bought matching Christmas pajamas for next year for Caleb and #2. Mostly I am just thrilled for another reason to shop (online of course).

I love her cute little face! I can almost imagine her saying those things--More Jane please...

She is awdorawble! We've got to get her and my four year old together--he counts down the days until he goes to the dentist. For two months. Seriously.

(why am I always the last lately, I am such a loser!)

1. Avery had those jammies last year.

2. This year we bumped up jammies to #4 on the advent calendar, that way they can use them throughout the entire month.
