Gab's Good Gift-Giving

So, a group of us cah-razy blog friends decided to do a gift exchange. (My mom's always amazed at the cards and gifts and stories I have from women "you've never even met?!" but sometimes I think I know about what Holly's kids did yesterday or what Lisa-Marie thinks about having more kids, than my friends down the street! So, we're close.) Anyway, Gab drew my name...I was very excited because she's cool and down to earth and smart.
So, the Saturday before Christmas, I received her gift. The box included a bag of their family's "very last bit of Christmas toffee" which she told me to appropriately appreciate. Which I did...all of it, within 3 hours. By myself.
And then, because I am big on rules and Christmas surprises, I did not open her gift until Christmas morning. She included a book (because she knows I'm a reader) and a Hill Cumorah pageant CD (because she knows I am very jealous of her East Coast-ness).

(who posts a Christmas morning/no makeup picture on her blog? Oh, the same person who has had 2 posts in a row displaying her chowing down on un-healthy food. So classy.)

LOVED THEM. Given the exhaustion of the Christmas "vacation", I have fallen asleep holding (but not opening)her book the last 3 nights...but one of these days I will resume my nap schedule and then I will have plenty of energy to read and read late into the night.
Thanks Gabi! How about we have a book review about your book in Utah this summer?
**Should any of you want to join in a blog-buddy gift exchange...there are rumors of a "Christmas in June" one, so we'll keep you posted.

Don't you worry...you are absolutely beautiful~ even on Christmas morning with no makeup and in your onion burger picture! I am so glad you enjoyed Gab's toffee all by yourself! There are some things you just need to say to your children "Back people! BAAAACCK!"

I'm one of the crazies who posts Christmas morning no makeup pics too. I don't pull it off near as well as you do though! I'm jealous of the toffee but excited for June. I'm so in for that exchange.

By the way. My family thinks I am crazy too with all my blog friends. My dad said one time, "you know Lisa-Marie, as your dad, I just feel like I should tell you, you never know who you're really talking too...blah blah blah!"

Yay!!! So glad you liked it and so glad you look beautiful eating and opening it.

Read Shell Seekers before Atonement....it is beautiful and way more PG rated. (Atonement has some language and war-stuff.)

I got your BookReads email too. Now that I can take my computer with me wherever I go...I may join. (Although, then when will I find the time to read!?)

My family doesn't get the blog thing either and neither do a lot of my friends. They're like, "do you KNOW the people who's blogs you comment on?" Uh, no. Not always, but I feel like I DO know you and I'm always wishing we all lived in one big circle or something.

I like all the pictures of you eating. It makes me feel like I am having lunch/snack/dessert with a buddy as I eat when reading your blog.

Jessica, I've have found it useful to not include the word "blog" when referring to my blogging friends. People just don't get it. I call them my "friend who lives in Idaho" or whatever.

The gift exchange was tons of fun. Definitely in June.

I am WAY impressed by your Christmas-morning-no-make-up-picture. And love the eating pictures too, which reminds me, when are we going to do our "girls night out"? I say right after the kids go back to school!

YAY! I loved the gift exchange and for sure we'll do it in June. I also love my "friends I've never met" and all blogging friends. You look great on Christmas morning by the way.

You look so good Christmas morning, I'm the one always in charge of taking pictures, so I convently don't get any shots of me. I remember growing up, we would hang out in Laurie's room waiting for our parents to wake up, and she would do all of our hair so we would look good for pictures, what a great sis.

You suck! That is not fair to womankind that you look so good with no makeup. And I'm just in awe that you actually PAUSE while eating junk to photograph it...I just see-&-scarf. :0

Fun to read about your Christmas. I can't believe how mature your sister is -- I forget that I'm that much older too. I love your family picture, both in my card and on here.

I'm wishing I had some of the toffee too -- I made a batch but I didn't cook it long enough so it's soft. I was so bummed. I talk myself in and out of making another batch - I really don't need it, but why not?!

I love the dinner in Bethlehem idea. And, I'm looking forward to your visit this summer!

Oh, and I'm sorry if you have to think of me every time you hear "Breath of Heaven" -- I didn't know I made y'all listen to it that much. Apparently Josh feels the same way -- he knows all of the words because of me, but then he sings it in this high-pitched "I'm making fun of you" way. Sad for him.

One more thing --- I'm definitely convinced that Jane and Loie would be fast friends! Jane's quotes crack me up.

My hubby was wondering who I was addressing all my extra Christmas cards too and I told him my blog friends...we're all just sista's from other motha's!!
Getting to know someone doesn't constitute meeting them in person...I LOVE getting to know you better! And I love that we can all "meet" in our own little homes and know each other better than our neighbors down the street...totally true!!!!
Anyways...cute gifts. The toffee looked yum!

Please pass the toffee.

Yeah, my husband mocks my pretend internet friends, too. I think he's just jealous. When did someone he doesn't know that he met on the internet ever send him a present? Actually, I hope never. But we're all cool, right? RIGHT?

And yes, Gab is the best. I wuv her! (And not just because I married her brother)

Oh, I like this. I haven't read up on your blog in a while. Please forgive my slackiness. I would like to join in on Christmas in June. Best idea ever!
