Easy come...

Received (with joyful incredulity: "Mom! Did you know I would get dis wing?!"): Sunday, January 13, 2008.

Lost (after many forays into mouths and dolls' hands): Tuesday, January 15, 2008.

We hope her desire to Choose the Right will last longer than the ring actually did.

How do you feel about a CTR tatoo?

Then you won't have to look anymore.

Just a thought.

or use your previous presidency ties to break into the closet and steal her a new one from the stash.

HA Ha! Amen. I wonder where they all went in my house?

I remember those....they remind me of like a secret Harry Potter Club. Cool

I remember I had a cool silver CTR ring that I wore on my left hand through high school and some of college. I ended up taking it off in college because I kept getting asked if it was some kind of promise ring (I was at BYU). I can promise you if a guy gave me a CTR ring as a token of his affection, I would have chosen another guy fast.

It's all over. Might as well buy them beer and hookers. Without the ring to remind them, they're doomed.

A CTR tatoo! Heather is hilarious!

I agree with Andrea, too...use your stroke as a former member of the Presidency to acquire another one. Genius.

Is Jane upset about the missing CTR ring?

Where DO things like that go? There are only so many places to hide. It's the same way with binks, and lost socks, and play baby bottles. Oh, my list of missing stuff goes on and on.

Please tell Jane that Gma feels her pain. When I was 4 my parents gave me a pretty ring (that even had some little precious stone in it) which they wanted me to value. Well, I did value it - but I certainly didn't want it wet or soapy in the bathtub or sink. Of course I wanted to look at it and admire it often, and how can you do that without taking it off to see all the sides? Finally, to keep it safe one day as I did something else, I popped it in my mouth....well, at least you can retrieve a swallowed ring! Tell Jane to swallow hers next time.
xoxo

Nathan was also just as thrilled to get his CTR ring. And sadly, lost his just as fast.

There are many secret words attached to the letters CTR. Maybe you are better off without it.

I can't believe this event happened exactly one year ago, in 2007!

We just got our last one. It is still attatched to the finger but it did make it into my room after 1 a.m. the first night for readjustment. Hoping that if he does lose it, the green stain around his finger will suffice.

CTR rings are available on ebay.... for as little as $2... perhaps a replacement is in order? They cant be that hard to get - I had at least 2 in my childhood and I was a methodist! LOL

I remember I buried mine in the sand at recess and then spent the rest of the year looking for it.

I wonder if it's still there...

I think a CTR tat. is a great idea. I have looked all over the house millions of times for those CTR rings, all the while cursing them of course. When Charlotte's finally fell down the drain in the shower I was SO HAPPY.

Awww...that's too bad! I hope it turns up.

BTW, I agree 100% with your previous post about reading. I love how you find creative ways to get some book time in--I'm going to try some of your tricks.

I think it's time to talk about a CTR ring fairy. Something like...when you don't listen to your mommy, the CTR fairy comes and takes the ring away. And leaves a "good luck with that" note.

More therapy later!

I've found if they leave it on long enough it does start to leave its own mark on the skin- a pseudo tattoo if you will.

I just vacuumed one up last night and was too lazy to get it out. I'll wait until they notice its missing.

Hahahaha--this is so typical! I'm with Heather...a CTR tatoo!

So books on your ipod. Genius! Which ones have you listened to so far?

I frickin' hate how those go missing!! I remember looking for Levi's for DAYS!

Is she upset? Get her a cute CTR necklace. Then it won't get lost (as easy anyway).

I found a random CTR ring on our stairs today and I didn't know we owned one! Maybe she threw it to NY and it landed on my stair!

Oh and Jessica, the best news of all for me today.....I decided to come to Blogapalooza 2008!!! Count me in! Don't tell me I am too late to RSVP....I decided a slow time on race day will be well worth it. So excited to meet all you guys! Today I was trying to decide what your voices would sound like. Sorry, is that creepy?

If your kids are anything like mine, you'll find 'dat wing' when you walk thru a room and it becomes lodged in your heel. Then you'll probably want to say 'dat naught word' and you won't be CTRing.

only if your kids are anything like mine.

Ok, I was already laughing when I read this post -- I can TOTALLY feel your pain, sistah! Then I read Karen's comment, and almost choked laughing. TOO TRUE!!

One of my twins found Jaxon's bent and twisted ring in the garage. It had been missing for months. Of course when Jaxon saw Serae with it, he said it was his "special ring" and he NEEDED to have it back, sobbing desperately. Serae finally gave in, more crying. It is lost again.

okay--first i love your posts & second I love the comments people leave on your post. it makes me want to check the blogs of all these hilarious people. on a related note--our apartment was broken into a few years back & my gold CTR ring was stolen. i'm guessing the perp was NOT aware of what CTR stands for.

The SAME thing happened to us last week. And I predicted it right before it happened. Logan was so sad. His teacher had suggested just keeping it on at all times... sick huh? His finger would be permanently green.
