Sunday Summary

The first picture of Emma is at Dad's n Donuts at the school. As Ryan described it: "We walked in, got a donut, ate it, and were done in about 1 minute" Apparently, fabulous bonding occurred. The second picture is Emma in ecstasy. For her birthday, my dad got her a gift card to Michaels. She and I went yesterday to cash it in, and she COULD NOT BELIEVE the amount of crafty projects she could buy. After we showed them to Ryan, he said, "Why don't we just dump it on the ground and vacuum it up right now, to save ourselves the trouble." Nice. We have made about 72 bouncy balls and 28 beady, iron-y melty things today. Too bad Gabe didn't have some of them around for his White Elephant sale.

First of all, I apparently do not take enough pictures of Gabe. This one is from a month ago (though he did wear this shirt this week). Second of all, Gabe rips holes in jeans like they are tissue paper. We went on a little date on Friday to pick more out. I'm hoping they last till next Friday. Third of all, he was the VIP in Primary today and brought an x-ray (to signify his MANY bone breakages), a soccer ball (to represent his love of sports. If you could see me right now, you'd see a questioning look in my eyes, but don't tell Gabe) and a flash card (because he's really good at math. That one's for real). I tried to make him show some Uno cards (because Gabe loves games) but he wouldn't because it said on the card to bring 2-3 things and that was number 4. Where did that extreme rule -following come from anyway?

Jane got to accompany dad to work again on Friday. When they are closing down your job, they don't care if you let your 4 year old do it.

Here's my favorite picture of Seth from the week.
I'd made cookies and had left the kitchen. When I came upstairs, he was naked and holding a BIG ball of dough. This illustrates the difference between me and a two year old: about the only time I don't want to be holding a big ball of cookie dough, is when I can easily see the havoc wreaked by too many dips into the batter. Not Seth. That kid needs all the dough he can get.

Also, after months of very bad hair due to (equally?) disastrous hair appointments with Jane and Ryan, we took Seth in for a real haircut. He's now cute again.

Ryan started his part-time job this week. It's called Being the Ward Clerk. But everyone is so super supportive here at home, so don't even worry about me. We did get some time to watch Our Mutual Friend (which you should only watch if you love those slow, British, history movies that never have an attractive person in them. Which we do, so we LOVED it. Really, it was good, if you like Jane Austen-ish stuff). We also had a lovely, relaxing date to Dockside at the Coeur d'Alene Resort, which has ice cream sundaes bigger than your head. Seriously. We love that place.

You want to come with us sometime?

You live near Cour d'Alene? That is the most beautiful place!! Love it. I used to go there as a little girl, my family is from Eastern Washington. I would go with you anytime!! (and, I'm a lot of fun!) Your kids are really cute, but is kiddie porn allowed?

You should of called...Aric and I are always up for ice cream sundaes as big as our heads!

Oh and you should seriously think about changing your discipline methods, there are other alternatives to starvation...with kids as skinny as yours, you can't hide your sick ways...

Hilarious about the vacuuming up the stuff. My girls are putting on an "art show" in their room, and I'm wondering if I should just pay them NOT to have it so I don't have to clean it up.

How did you get that blackout thing on cute Seth?

Aren't our weeks overwhelmingly fun? At least you got an ice cream Sunday out of it. I got second rate flavors of GS cookies.

Okay, I finally posted about last week's dinner. I call it my Ode to Jessica post. I figure every blogger should have one.

Another great summary, Jessica!

I do indeed want to go with you to get an ice cream sundae as big as my head.

I loved Ryan's comment about just, dumping the craft project pieces on the ground...it would probably save quite a bit of time...

And here's to hoping that Gabe's pants do last until next Friday. Now, Jessica...don't be pessimistic...they will probably last until next, Saturday. ( I loved that comment about them lasting until next Friday...you are so funny;) )

How DID you do that thing to cover up Seth?

oooooh the Dockside...I took a few dates there back in the day...never had a sundae though. anytime icecream can be as big as my head I am in.

Yes I do!!!
And I cracked up at the picture of Seth- I am totally with you. No naked cookie dough eating for me. Fully dressed only.
I am with Ryan on the vacuuming idea. I posted awhile back about the foam princess Christmas castle we made from Michaels (and how I never want to do that again).
Also, sidenote- would you email me your real address so I can send you something pretty? I promise I live way far enough away that I won't stalk you. And I send fun things like bum crack calendars (just ask Stie)......my email address is: provost_mique (at) hotmail (dot) com.

Heather and I were just talking today about Blogapalooza, and I decided I'm most excited to meet you. The end.

I posted about bad hair cuts tonight too. How ironic. I swear we lead parallel lives. We will go to the Dockside with you ANYTIME! NEW RESTAURANT ALERT! I saw a sign for the MELTING POT . . . Mmmmmm let's go!!!

The craft/vacuum comment had me laughing out loud. It's so true. So very true!

At least he was naked & only holding a ball of dough, as opposed to other balls.

(it had to be said)

I have to admitt, when I saw the picture of Seth, I thought it was poop instead of cookie dough, can you tell we are still potty training over here.

Ward clerk, been there done that, but I must say it is not as bad as Executive Secretary. I love the picture of Seth.

Love the dessert at Dockside! Of course I love ANY dessert...

I have three boys that go through jeans every couple of weeks it seems. Little trick I learned...if you buy them at Sears you can take them back in when they are ripped and they will replace them for free! Literally has saved me hundreds of dollars.

I hope to see Cour d'Alene one day--I want to visit and do a Half Marathon there--I've heard such good things about it--not I can add sundaes as big as my head to the list!

I have heard bits and pieces about your famous blog, so I did some blog snooping and found you through Meghann. I love it! You and Ryan are both so funny! Even more impressive than the entries, are the number of comments you get. Your site is getting some serious traffic! Someone reading your blog is bound to know someone who knows someone hiring and Ryan will find a job! :) Good luck! -Danna Nelson

I want a sundae as big as my head!! I love your summaries - always so entertaining!

I too laughed out loud at Ryan's brilliance with the vacuum. My Ella would be as giddy as Emma was. Fun idea for a B-day gift!!

I'm jealous Jane gets to go to work with dad. My kids would love to go and do that. Hopefully they wouldn't be traumatized by the yanking of teeth, and the wiring shut of jaws!!

Hey dittle dittle the cat and the fittle----I think that guy above me is a spammer and I don't dare click on him to find out about his $800, unless of course you know him. Then I will click.

Anyway, I loved your WHOLE post, every jot and tittle (but not dittle). Oh, sorry I am so corny today.

I was kinda hoping to meet you at the triplets baptism, but I guess I'll have to wait for the Bloggathing.

Hope your week is fun.

Yes, Mique does send good gifts. Give her your REAL address, not the fake one you probably give to the crazies.

Laughing out loud at the naked cookie dough comment. Truer words were never spoken (about my thighs, not yours).

your kids are SO stinkin' cute!!

My boys go through jeans like crazy. I don't think my Gabe owns a single pair right now without holes. Good to hear about Sears--I usually just by them at Children's Place.

I will eat ice cream with you any where, any time.

Also, I'm hoping Ryan didn't bring Jane into work before they decided to close his division. That's a lot for a 4 year old to be responsible for. :)

You'll have to keep us posted on the job front. That must be hard to go through for you guys. Job security is a tough thing to find these days. And finding job security in something you actually ENJOY is even harder.
Love the week summary and the picture of naked Seth and the cookie dough. That sounds about like me (the cookie dough part anyway, ha ha)!

Emma is a girl after my own heart. I loved thos rafty things. And is Jane the super fashionable chica or what with her pants tucked into her boots?? I aspire to such trendy status.

You next date should be here - we have really good ice cream.
