Deja Vu

As you know, Ryan's company has said they are closing his division.
It's all a little too eerily familiar to our last job loss...
  • We live in the same town.
  • We have the same friends calling and dropping by with job leads and concern. (When Megan Guinn came over and started listing all the ideas her husband had--exact same scenario as last time--I was a little spooked.)
  • We are again contemplating having another child.
  • We have friends again doorbell ditching us with goodies to lift our spirits. (Cute things like: "We hope you SKOR a job really QUIK". After Ryan accidently came home during a delivery--and discovered to REALLY cute little girls with a deer-in-the-headlights look leaving our door, the next delivery of Smoothie ingredients included this message: "ORANGE you glad you have such SMOOTHIE and sneaky friends?" So unnecessarily nice. Another example:).

  • I am still SO grateful to be married to Mr. BudgetSaver.
  • We have felt the same Peace that everything will be alright.

Luckily, a few things are different:

  • Ryan's brother in law wasn't the one firing him. (Thanks, Kev.)
  • 6 words: Masters Degree, 5 more years experience.
  • A MUCH better economy for high-tech jobs.
  • It will NOT take 8 months this time (please please please)!

Ryan actually has lots of possibilities (GOOD ones) and has been grateful for a chance to re-tool his career plan.

I am just grateful for all the treats the Albrechts left us.

In fact, their week is done...anyone else up for providing a nightly Romney dessert?? We promise not to catch you... I wouldn't want that scale to show lower numbers, or anything.

I'm glad you are staying upbeat and positive. You DO sound like you have awesome friends too.

Sometime you'll have to post all the places you've lived, jobs you've had, friends you've made. Your "backstory"...I'm very snoopy and interested.

What good friends! And you seem so okay with all this. I'd be having a cow. figuratively.

Good luck. We'll keep you in our prayers. Anything in Dallas? (Okay, that will be my 3rd and finally comment about y'all moving here).

I am sure there are many wonderful jobs back in Utah! ;) You are lucky to have such wonderful neighbors!

I've never thought of bringing treats to a soon to be unemployed family. The things you learn.

I'm holding out for you coming here. Technology heaven, right?

Wow very clever friends you've got there! Takes one to know one...after your pun-filled Valentines month gifts, is it a surprise to have such clever friends too?

Wishing you the best!

Ohhhhhhh! I wish I would have known that there was a dessert rush at the Romney's! I made cupcakes today, and I would have GLADLY brought you some... (you know, I have to feed my cupcake fetish) unfortunately, they have been eaten. . .

What awesome friends. I sure hope everything works out for the best. Make sure he looks into what Intel has to offer down here in AZ. You know you want to live by me and be my best friend!

Those Albrechts are keepers! I bet those little girls with the, "deer in the headlights" look were pretty adorable...even though they were about to soil themselves because they were caught in the sweet, and service oriented act;)

Um hello good time to move to California!!! Technology hub, good job industry, cute blogging friends and the capital of foreclosure homes that are going for a deal. Although it sounds like you have awesome friends and that would be hard to leave. Good luck I am sure he will find something soon.

Where one door closes, another always opens. This will be exciting to see what new opportunities open up for your family! Keep up the positive perspective.

Wow-- you do have great friends!
What a fun way to show that they care...

When Zach retired from baseball without a job to fall back on, we just got dirty looks and open mouthed stares... :) I wish we would have had treats instead!!

how about relocating to Canada? He coud have a job today if he came here.

You are so positive, and he will find something great. You'll look back and be so glad he had to find this next new job that is so much better.

I also would like your backstory, please. Details! Details!

Yeah. Backstory. Backstory. Snoopy snoppy snoopy!

I'm so glad that you are able to feel some peace. You and Ryan are amazing and great examples of faith in adversity! Thank you.

You are such great examples of faith and hard work! I know Heavenly Father has an awsome job prepared for Ryan. Last time this happened you ended up with a better house and a better job! The only draw back was moving away from me. God prepares something better for us each time He tries our faith. It is always easier to remember that when it is not my trial. You are in our prayers. I'll pray for this trial to be a short one!!!!

Good luck, I hope it doesn't take 8 months. It's nice to have that feeling that everything is going to be okay when things are looking down.

Those Albrechts, they really are smooth... What a cute idea. We are all praying for your family! And we know that things will work out for you.

Yikes, 8 months last time? What a great attitude you have. And I want the dish like everyone else.

The only bonus thing about moving out of town is that I can move into a new town and copy yours and Jessica's ideas and claim them as my own. People will adore me like everyone adores you girls.

C'mon now, you know you will be led to Boise, huh? It's where all the really cool people are headed.

You guys will be fine and I hope you don't have to move because you have a great home, great friends, and moving is just a pain....

As stressful as it may seem with a big family and job searching, Ryan is a great catch and I am sure this will lead to even better things for him. You are in my thoughts. How totally thoughtful and unique of your friends?!!

AZ Karen said...

Been There! (Ours lasted 8 months, too). You are so positive about things. Hopefully this will lead to something better for him and your family. Good luck.

And you have great friends.

Lorena said...

Sounds like everyone wants you to move by them. However, I stand to gain the most since Stacy left me. I think your top choice should be Phoenix. Just think of the weather. A mere 80 degrees here today.

Carie said...

Just add us to the list of people who want you to move by them: Any opportunities in Kansas City?

I could seriously use a little daily dose of Jessica in my life.

Jill said...

Good luck! My oldest sister is going through the same thing with her husband too...I can't imagine the stress. It's good to hear you feel peace.
What AWESOME neighbors too!

zeeny said...

How nice to have such great friends!! Good luck to you in the job search. I admire your faith! We'll keep your family in our prayers. Who wouldn't want to hire Ryan, being the super man he is!

Paige said...

Please tell us exactly what he does so we can find him multiple high paying jobs in our own cities. And then we can all do a post about why he should take OUR job in OUR city. Seriously, you can help him with this blog!

Mark said...

Ok so if moving is an option... I got to put a plug in for Seattle. You get to stay in the same cool state. Close to family. Lots of job opportunities, great mountains, lots of great areas to play in, shop, and pretty much anything else you can think of. . .AND You get to live close to us..huge bonus there!

Kirbell said...

Way to stay positive! Hope Ryan finds a new job soon. I 'd recommend SoCal but we still can't afford a house here...so good luck!

Hollyween said...

You seriously live by the coolest people ever. I hope he finds something fabulous and quick and makes a ton of money. I'm superficial like that.

Who loves you baby!

Heather said...

ugh. I have been thinking about you all day long--you are definately in my prayers--

I sure wouldn't mind a relocation to my neck of the woods, though.

heidiram said...

You are so positive. Can you slip me some positive pills? You know, they are expanding the technology/innovation way corridor here in Orlando. And if that doesn't work, my hubby is about to leave his job working for a technology company . . . Oracle.

Cami said...

No one would complain if this brought you back to Utah, but I do hope that things not only work out, but work out well.
Blessings on you!

Cami said...

Wow! Reading all these comments, I'd say there's just not enough Romney to go around!

Melissa said...

Oh I so hope that everything works out for you guys! You seem to have a really good upbeat attitude...which will help more than anything :)

Erin said...

What a fantastic attitude. :) I truly admire your positivity (is that a word?!) in the face of potential adversity.

I'm glad you filled us in on the Lucky Charms thing. I wish I could say I have that cool of neighbors so I could convince you to move to LA. My neighbors have size 2 clothes, big diamonds and lots of makeup. BUT we do have sunny weather, the beach (about an hour away) and I'm trying to think of a third thing...um, me! jk.
I know it will all work out- it always does. Way to be positive though.
And like the rest of your fans I'd love to hear where all you guys have lived.

shauna said...

You have amazing neighbor's and friends. Priceless.

Adrianne said...

Thank you for the short phone call informing me not to worry. Good thing you live by the Albrechts and not by me because I wouldn't think to do all those cute things, not that I love you any less.

AMY said...

We're glad you've got some prospects. Only the Albrecht's would get busted doing something like that.
