Tagged: Seven Interesting Facts about Jessica's Feet

Can you believe how lucky you are?! That you happened on my blog today?! And that there's so much to learn about my feet?!

Fact#1
My feet are very big. 9 1/2 before kids, 10 after.
Fact #2
My toes make up for a good 25% of my feet length. I have one that is as long as my pinky finger (and I have long fingers). This is why I honestly did not wear sandals until I was in college, when I stopped caring about my witch toes.

Fact #3
My husband was seriously repulsed by my toes. I had warned him and he didn't believe me, thinking: "Everyone thinks their feet are ugly." He's actually the coiner of the witch phrase, as he tells me that that was what he thought when they were unveiled for him.

Fact #4
My feet are not covered by as cute of shoes as those of you with size 7 feet. Talk a walk down the Payless aisles one day. This is what you will say to yourself: "Here we are in the size 6 section and there are some really cute cheap shoes here. Size 7, still cute. Size 8, size 8 1/2, size 9, all cute. Hey! Wait a minute, here we are in the 10s. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE CUTE SHOES ALL THOSE OTHER SIZES HAVE?"

Fact #5
Pointy shoes do not work well with my 3 inch toes. I wear them anyway (of course!) and my toes are permanently curled and calloused due to such sacrifices for fashion.
Fact #6
I had calcium deposits growing on the backs of my heels, when I was 16, because nature seems to think that my feet aren't long enough. I got them shaved off and scooted around on my bum for weeks while they healed. I ruined a very cute rayon short one piece from Express doing it.
Fact #7
Ryan's uncle is a podiatrist. (Coincidence? I think not.) When I complained of numbness in the 3 littlest toes on the left foot, he touched a spot on the pad underneath them and they went immediately numb. Apparently there is a benign tumor there, which goes numb and sometimes becomes painful. I should get it removed, but with 4 kids, how am I supposed to stay off my feet for 6 weeks as I recover? Please.

payless.com is the answer to your shoe woes. They will ship them to your store for you and if they dont fit you just return them right there! This has been a huge blessing to me and my huge feet!

I must say, that as long as you are going to have long toes you may as well have a lovely pedicure!

Melinda said...

Our feet are completely opposite - I think I have the shortest, stubbiest toes you will ever see. I dare say they go up to the joint on your toes. I am a size 7 - 7 1/2 which is what the average size is I am guessing because any time shoes go on sale there are none in my size.

It's a running joke between my sister and myself that she has "alien" feet and i have "pretty" feet.
I love that you blogged about your FEET!! So awesome!

Bridget said...

Thanks. Now my feet have a complex for being boring.

Heather said...

So when you get a pedicure are you really really really paranoid that they are talking smack about your feet?

Sally said...

One more thing we have in common! I have the same feet!! My feet are very long, size 9.5 BC (Before Children) and 10 AC. And my running shoes are size 11. Gah. And I, too, have very long toes. I never ever wore flipflops until I was about 24. I wore sandals before then but only the right kind. Now I love my feet--they take me places.

You know, I don't need a blog. We have enough in common, I can just send my people over to your blog.

Girl, those look like "family" toes! I bet Jax could
be your double in some foot movie! She stopped at
9 I think... I went to 10 at one time and came back to 9W. Kennedy is sporting the FAT family foot like
her dad, he was up to a 17 at one time!, now back to a petite 13?
I understand the shoe store dilemma. I'd just say,
I'm here to buy the BOX!
Over here NO one really wears shoes so you just learn to love your feet and having clean feet as opposed to RED dirt feet is a PLUS! Painted toe nails is really important tho, and IF they match your outfit they are always pointed out...
Good to know your feet, Jessica! CUTE!

That was truly fascinating! I think the fact that Ryan coined the phrase, "witch toes" on your behalf is endearing...I mean, didn't you?

Yeah...I can see why 6 weeks to recover from a tumor removing surgery would be kind of a hardship...that scooting around on your bum would be a lot harder with 4 kiddos crawling all over you.

It's not fun though to have size 7 feet and big legs, that's just as bad! That's why I always wear wide shoes, to make my feet look bigger and my legs look smaller. Aren't I a genius?

Lindsey said...

What a lovely pedicure! Well, at least you don't have size 12 feet. I am 6'2" so I guess it is ok. However, if you think there are no cute shoes in the 10 section. . just think about the 11 (which I used to be until Wade) and now I am 12. Thanks Wade... he will never live it down.

I am just learning all kinds of new facts about you! Glad I checked in today.

I have the opposite problem. I have very small feet- they used to be a 5 before I got pregnant-- now I can wear a 5 1/2 sometimes even a 6! YAY!

The only problem is that when I find a shoe I like and ask them to go get a 5 1/2, they never have it. Ever.

I shop in the kids section.

brooke romney said...

Okay, possibly the grossest post, but funny nonetheless. When I picture you in my head, I don't imagine you with tingers. I'll have to get a new visual.

Kristin said...

I hear you about the size shoes, I have a size 10, made 11 when I am prego. You can't even find cute shoes in stores in that size. Also my toes are super long as well, but I have put them to good use. I have trained them to pick things up, paper, quarters, plankets, etc. Which has come in handy when your hands are full of babies. Good luck with the tumor, that sucks.

shauna said...

Sorry to hear about you feet issues. Good thing you have a podiatrist in the family that could diagnos the tumor. If you get the surgery, try a skate board so you won't ruing your good jeans. Or you could try the old people store, they have some pretty crazy "get-around" thingys.

Take care of your feet, so they can take care of you!

Christie said...

Yeah, I was about an 8 before children, and I'm like a 9 1/2 after. I feel your pain. Try Famous Footwear. For some reason, there is always lots of cute shoes in our size.

And I'd say get the tumor removed and scoot around on your bum for a while. You could just get the one-piece Gs now instead of the rayon Express number. That way you'd be spiritual AND comfy.

Stacy said...

On the plus side, I'll bet your feet have mad skills that the rest of ours don't have. For example, if you lost your arms in a freak accident and had to use your feet to braid your hair, open pickle jars, play the guitar, etc., they would be perfectly up to the challenge, what with your wonder "tingers" and all!

zeeny said...

I love feet and anyone who knows me well knows I love a good tan foot with the sandle line! One of the things I first looked for in a guy during summer months! Your feet are just fine! My sister too wears a 10 or 10 1/2...she does happen to be six feet tall as well. She still wears her high heels with pride!

the wrath of khandrea said...

you know i got mad love for you, but this made me sick. not that your feet are sick, because i have freakishly long toes too... (skip calls them foot fingers) but i'm ill because i know so much about your feet now. that's one of those body parts that should be off limits for public conversation. it's like posting about herpes.

-gagging-

Jake said...

I don't think they look bad. If the price for having long fingers is having long toes then I say enjoy.

My fingers (and toes) are complete stubs. Which is why I am not a great pianist and cannot type faster.

Anonymous said...

it's nice that you made all 7 facts about your feet... very impressive. ha.

;)

Laurie said...

You and your finger toes have been the stuff of legend in our household for years.

I have been a size 7 since 7th grade. Not even pregnancy changed a thing (wish I could say the same about my boobs).

By the way, your polish rocks!

jessica said...

I couldn't come up with seven facts about my feet if I tried!

And just when I think that I know you so well...you come up with a post like this.

I'll never look at your feet the same...nice polish by the way.

Ilene said...

I have seen your shoes and they are very cute (love those green heels you wore the other night to the cub scout dinner). I don't have half as cute shoes and I am a boring ol' 7 1/2. Sure, there are cute shoes in our sizes but when you tend to shop TJ Maxx for shoes, as I do, you envy all those size 10-12 girls. The only shoes left in my section tend to be those gold numbers that you see ol' grandmas wear to Bingo nights.

I don't play bingo.

However, my feet, I must admit are pretty cute. I have very few body parts that I am comfortable with but my feet and ears are my good friends. Kind of like how Anne of Green Gables always was a bit vain about her nose.

Celia Fae said...

Can you ski on those planks?

Really, I'm with Christie. The one piecers even have an easy access panel.

Tell me the truth, have you been planning this post but you had to wait until your toes were done? I thought so.

Lisa-Marie said...

Thank you. Thank you. I think you saved my marriage. For YEARS I have been trying to convince Kendon that my feet have grown with pregnancy. He THOUGHT I was delusional. He is starting to think I am on to something seeing I am not alone in this! Hurray!

Penny said...

I swear I thought I smelled "feet" when I read this post. Anyways, I, too, have big feet. I was an
8 1/2 before kids. But a 9 1/2 to 10 after. Darn kids. Are there ANY parts of our bodies they don't mess up?!

AMY said...

Honestly, every woman has got to be self concious of her feet at some point in her life. I know I am. You see - I inherited my mom's feet which lovingly Mike nicknamed Triple F's for Fred Flinstone Feet (especially when pregnant). At least I can laugh with him though.

Thanks for the yummy dessert last night. We had a great time.

Margaret said...

Kudos to you Jessica for doing a post about your feet. I think that makes you a more advanced blogger. I'm pretty sure.

6 weeks off your feet? Oh girl that doesn't sound like fun. I wish you the best!

Meghann said...

I used to be soooo vain about my feet, okay maybe I still am a little bit. However, I'm starting to think my pink toes are deformed because they totally curl and lay down flat . . . why am I explaining this? At least you can hide what you aren't proud of.
Anyway- be at peace with your feet. Everyone has something they wish they could change (for me it's me nose! Try hiding that, I have a complete witch profile) and if they don't, then they have a serious personality flaw.

Tammy said...

Your feet really are unique! I have always admired that you can pick things up with those extra long toes of yours. I agree with some previous comments, you can indeed find good shoes in your size because you are a more rare size. You need to head to Macy's or Loehmanns or other stores and search the sales area as you will find some great bargains!

Adrianne said...

It's always handy to have extra fingers...you have to think positive!

Hollyween said...

My sister's feet grew a half size with almost every pregnancy. She used to be a 7 and now she's a 9. I have to say that your feet are pretty and manicured even though they're large with long-o toes. I have always had insecurities about my toe knuckles. They look pig-like.

My cousin calls her feet "pig hooves". So at least you don't have THAT problem.

Meridith said...

Man Jessica. I feel a little closer to you than I did before, especially now that I know about your benign tumor. How painful! Sorry.

Mique (as in Mickey) said...

I'm glad you clarified your tumor. I've been waiting to hear more about it.
I have to say that I hate having size 8 shoes because they are never on sale (like other people mentioned). My sister (size 5) ALWAYS gets the best deals. And I can find size 10 deals like crazy too. But I always wonder- who in the heck wears size 10? Amazon babe? I guess I now know.
How tall are you anyway?

Erika said...

you forgot to mention how the toe nail polish rubs off onto the floor when you walk around bare foot. Go Stonegate.

Lorena said...

OK, so I have size 5-1/2 - 6. Most of my shoes are bought in the clearance section and I can even shop in the Girls' section. However, my toes don't look as cute as yours!

I like how your feet turn blue if your legs are crossed. I still haven't figured that one out.

Jenibelle said...

Who knew there could be so many comments about feet? I am going to be examining mine very carefully, I never give them a thought. Except to marvel that those little things can carry this big 'ol body. LOVE your polish color. Love it.

Jill said...

I'm so glad your second toe is longer than your big toe, because mine is too! I hate it...when I buy open toed shoes it looks so retarded. Oh, the handicap we face :)

Cami said...

I love this post. I love your nail polish AND I feel your toe woes.

Anonymous said...

I just thought that since we are blog friends and i now know so much about your feet, you should know about mine. They are really pretty. Now you know. Do you feel closer to me?

Audry said...

Who would have known feet could be so interesting.

Jacki said...

AAAHH! The cursed Sherrill feet. First of all I hate the fact that your feet grew from being pregnant. Being a 10 already, I would HATE it if mine grew any more. 10 is doable, but 10 and a half... IMPOSSIBLE!

My poor little child is doomed. She won't be getting any help from the Snow's side either. My sister-in-law is a 12. The smallest girl feet on the Snow's side is a 10 1/2. Well at least we know she will have a "solid foundation"!

Erin said...

The scooting around story already had me giggling--the "a very cute rayon short one piece from Express doing it" took it over the edge though! :) Aaaahhh...fashion flashbacks are a beautiful thing!

TexasTwinsTwice said...

Haha! This is so funny--Mainly because you look like you could be my foot twin! Though I wasn't fond of long toes as a teenager, they are very helpful now for picking up things off the floor, and pinching my husband. =)

crystal said...

I hate all people with small feet.

I'm just saying.

I think Jessica's feet are pretty and very kissable!!
