Sunday Summary

Here's a daily report:

Monday
The school district declared a snow day (the first one we've had in 12 years). We were excited and I just decided to dump all plans for the day and go sledding. The kids sledded for hours. We love Snow Days!

Tuesday
Emma got her new glasses, finally. She loves them and looks very cute in them.

Wednesday
After 5 buses slid off the road on Tuesday when the kids went back to school, they decided to call another Snow Day. Today, I decided that I had too much to do to be Snow Day Director and the kids would just have to amuse themselves.

Bad idea.

That's why I was very happy to dump my house-bound, bored, grouchy kids on Ryan and head off to this birthday dinner for Ashley. I stayed away for 3 hours, planning my return for about 45 minutes past bedtime. Thanks for having a birthday, Ashley, I needed it.
FYI: We no longer love Snow Days.

Thursday
Third Snow Day in a row. Since Plan "Let Kids Amuse Themselves" did not go so well, I reverted to Plan "Have Stuff to Do All Day So Kids Don't Make You Want To Move to San Diego....Where You Have No Snow Days Or Children."
We went to WalMart (always a fun destination):

We met Ryan at Costco for lunch (see kids watching the Costco TVs on the handicap riders):

We also went swimming at our gym for hours (sorry, no picture) and then watched TiVo'd American Idol until it was time for bed.
Much better day.

Friday
KIDS GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!! And also wear their Valentine's Day shirt (as per Holiday Attire Rules).

We also attended some church ball (where Ryan scored his one and only basket of the season) and went out to dinner with friends afterward.

Saturday
Oh, we had another Dance Dance Revolution Party. Are we complete nerds or what? The Albrechts called and invited themselves over for one (which is less tacky when you consider that last year we invited ourselves and 6 of our friends over to their house for movies) cause they were jealous about our last week's bash. We played DDR and Singing Star until 12:30 a.m. Which is why Ryan kept falling asleep in church today. But at least we got lots of new songs unlocked on our game (thanks to Aric, the new Didder rising star). You need priorities.

The Romneys know how to PAAAR-TAY.

Good for you for keeping your sanity after so many snow days in a row! Ugh.

Yes, Emma looks darling in those glasses.

Yes, I am cool for being the first commenter. :)

Yeah, 2nd comment, this must be a record or something! Just wanted to say we miss you guys and (not to rub it in, but rather to convince you to move to Texas) that the weather in Texas is beautiful. Greg is already looking for jobs for Ryan at DELL and TI, which have huge offices here.

We do actually have Snow days here which consist of 1/2 inch of snow and massive freakouts where no one will drive (even thought the snow is melted by 9:00 am). It is a great shopping day, because no one is at the stores!

Fun week!
That sucks to have 3 snow days in a row!!!! We had 2 snow days in a row (it was only the 2nd snowfall this year and it was about an inch...seriously. It was REDICULOUS!)
I can't wait for AI this week. It's gettin' GOOD!!!!!!!!!

I could use about one snow day a month to cancel everything and play. Instead, we have Teacher Work Days where the kids stay home and the teachers get paid and we have no idea what to do with them or why they never go to school.

Dig Emma and Jane's matchy shirts. Also impressed on the boy shirts- it's hard to make them not look fruity.

We haven't had any snow days from school, but we did have two snow days from church. Nice timing. Question: Do you really let the kids drive the carts around Costco? I can already see the death and destruction that would result from my racers trying that. Love the Valentine's shirts. Not so easy to pull off with three boys.

The birthday was my pleasure - thanks for a great night. I think we need to celebrate President's day with another dinner out with the girls... any excuse right.

Um...I'm pretty sure that's a picture of you sledding in 18 degree weather. But I could be wrong. :-)

And there is a hard liquor behind you and Ilene and friends in the night out picture...good thing I know your mormon or I would think you were a serious partier. j/k

I'm with you. Snow days suck. Yeah for school days!

Margaret said...

I meant "a lot of hard liquor". (Next time I'll proof first)

In 12 years you'll all remember the snow days. The chaos, mess, boredom will all be forgotten and the sleds will have gotten faster, the hills higher, and all your effort will have provided a fabulous memory.

At first I was thinking...oh, it would be so fun to live in the snow...maybe we'll moved up to Spokane...and then I read on and changed my mind.

I noticed the hard liquor just like Meg did! Is that why you and Ilene are so witty and cool. Just kiddin' :D

Emma's glasses are so cute. I love sassy little frames like that:)

You Romneys do know how to party!

Hey, did you notice your kids sleeping with spoons, wearing their pajamas inside out, putting oranges in the fridge and praying fervently? I think I may know how you ended up with 3 snow days in row...(thanks to Stie's informative post, that is)

My kids would kill for a snow day. We got nothin' this year. So sad...

Rochelleht said...

Yea, I would NEVER, I repeat NEVER, take four kids to Walmart. It is always a disaster of epic proportions. You are a brave soul. I think Emma's glasses are ADORABLE. I'm a bit of an expert on the kids glasses. Been doing it now for 9 years, and I can say from experience, that you picked well, my friend. Not everyone I can say that to, but in your case, well done.

What my AZ kids would do for a snow day!!! I'm with you though, not always as fun as they seem. Oh, and no outing can be over until at least 45 min. after bedtime...even if you have to browse Barnes and Noble for an hour before you go home.

Wish they would call a rain day here--then again, maybe not. Rain is not a fun as snow.

I'm always hoping costco will have on a great movie on when we come in. What'd ya have for lunch? Hot dog and drink? Pizza? Chicken bake? Berry Smoothie? Chocolate and nut coverd ice cream? I love Costco. It is kinda like the church--you can pretty much count on the same stuff no matter where you go!

Have a great week.

My favorite picture is the Costco one! Too funny. Costco is the one place that has 2 "inserts" for kids so I can push one cart with the twins in it and the other with Cambry and still have room to fill both carts.

No snow days in Sunny Southern Utah... But also I only have on child in half day kindergarten, so it is pretty much like a snow day every day. Darn.

Love the glasses.

Love the hard liquor in the picture.

Inviting me and five of my friends to the next DDR par-tay. :) We'll need some advance notice for travel time, of course.

Also, we're totally coordinating a visit to Utah...keep you posted.

Way too many snow days! Yikes! I'm glad you survived.

Holly said...

Oh my! 3 snow days in one week?!? I would NOT have handled that as well as you.

Glad you got a break with your girlfriends.

You are livin' on the edge at Costco girl!

Annie said...

Oooo...three in a row is killer. Yeah, my kids pronounce it "snow fun" and I pronounce it "'s no fun." I'm a party pooper, what can I say?

Elizabeth Caldwell said...

Let Ryan handle snow day - at my house a snow day is a go to work day :) Ryan could manage that right???

Day 1 - John came to the office and spent the morning searching music websites. In the afternoon I had him filing and then he dusted and did some other general clerical stuff.

Day 2 - My sister came and picked him up. She is usually all about the fun - but he ended up shoveling at Grandma & Grandpa's, my house, her house, and Uncle's house! HA! Joke's on him!

Day 3 - come to the office again and then go to the library and work for a while helping the librarians since the volunteers havent been wanting to drive in the snow.

Trust me by morning 4 he was ready to get back to school! LOL

The liquor in the background is hilarious, we should of had your year supply of soy sauce in the background of the DDR pictures...

Thanks again for the fun times... we forgot to take some won tons home!

Ilene said...

Ah, I could have used some of that hard liquor that night. But the yoga and girl talk helped de-stress me that night. Note to self: don't pose for pictures with a group of pretty girls after going to the gym...

Ryan's shot was amazing. I hope you got some ice cream for it. Dan came home with a fat lip from a dirty player on the other team.

Just when I was thinking how fun it would be to live in the snow...

Yeah, I think one snow day would be fun, but 3 in a row would be rough. Walmart is a good stand by.

This was action packed! Your DDR parties are hilarious....I love it. Emma looks great in her glasses, but promise to take her to the Ophthalmologist just to check her eyes because her refraction keeps changing so much. Finally, I love the snow day stories of insanity....and you are really wanting 1 more kiddie? :) Love the Heart tees! Did the kids really take over Costco like that?? did they eat those yummy hot dogs?

I really like this 'Sunday Summary' idea. If you ever stop by my blog (which is really sweet of you seeing the throngs of fans that you have =) and you think, "Hey, that girl stole that idea from me." Just know, Yes, it's true. I did. Just remember what they say about imitation...

What a cute group of girls, and surely you are life of the party. I do the "45 min. after bedtime thing too; even if I have to sit in my car and wait.

Hollyween said...

Are you losing weight playing "didder" that much? Because I need a new exercise routine.

Also, I can't believe how much we've gotten dumped on and STILL no snow day. You guys are WIMPS!!!

you're convincing me to buy DDR again. Next trip it may just be on my list...
