Absolutely

Jessica & Ryan(I NEVER do a post without a picture, so here’s Ryan and me at my brother’s wedding)

I ALWAYS take a nap on weekdays.  I completely plan my life so that I have a 75 minute period for reading and sleeping in the middle of my days.

I NEVER make my bed before 2pm (post nap).  If it’s made before then, Ryan did it.

I ALWAYS make a full dinner (unless it’s date night).  I like to eat that way, plus I like to meal plan, find recipes and cook.

I NEVER make it through the week without yelling at my kids.  It used to be that I never made it through a day, so I’m improving.

I ALWAYS struggle with my weight.  I’m either going up (and hating it) or going down (and kind of hating it).  I wish I didn’t deal with this…it seems SO pathetic to me…but it’s what I do.

I NEVER miss church on Sunday.  We go when we travel, we go when it’s conference, we trade off when kids are sick.  I truly just LIKE going to church and hate missing.

I ALWAYS go on a weekly date with my husband.  Sometimes it’s a game night with friends, sometimes it’s just a walk to the grocery store to get Ben & Jerry’s, sometimes it’s full-on movies and a restaurant, but we always find a few non-kid hours to hang out together every week.

I NEVER clean an area that has a door that can cover it, which means any cabinet, closet, drawer, etc. is an embarrassing, disorganized mess.

I’m ALWAYS reading a book on my nightstand and listening to a book on my MP3.

I NEVER tuck my kids into bed.  We read scriptures and a book, most nights, but I cannot muster the energy to follow them upstairs and kiss them in bed.  The idea exhausts me and if they want a kiss, they get it on the couch.

I ALWAYS have a few TV shows that I love and NEVER miss:  Amazing Race, Survivor, Project Runway, Biggest Loser (reality TV, much?) and Parenthood.

I NEVER eat less than 2 servings of dessert (thus the weight issue).

I ALWAYS exercise, daily.  (It doesn’t really take care of multiple servings of dessert, in case you were wondering.)

I NEVER leave a social gathering without worrying that I monopolized the conversation.  It’s embarrassing.

I ALWAYS hate missing ANY social event.  Girls nights, recipe groups, ward parties, couples outings—if two overlap, I want to die.

I NEVER can do a post without thinking I need to be doing something else…today it’s bills, getting gas, doing Seth’s reading with him….so I’ll be going now.

love it! Wow, I'm more similar to you than I think. You know what I heard when I read your post? You have good self-care and that is a great thing for moms to have.
I, too, always read. Always build in rest time into my day. My closets and shelves are organized, but I always have dishes on my counter (it is the thorn on my side). And most importantly, I ALWAYS think I'm monopolizing any conversation I am having (and truth be told, I usually am)

What a great post! I could relate to so many of these absolutes.

We are seriously soul sisters. I am JUST like you (except the door hiding the mess thing. I can't ignore the messes no matter where they are). But I big puffy heart you. You are awesome.

what a great post idea. if you see this same thing on my blog, it's just sincere flattery.
and do some people eat less than 2 servings of dessert? i don't associate with people like that.
and i'm with you on the conversation domination. and domination remorse.

I ALWAYS look forward to and LOVE reading your posts. I love knowing someone else who does not clean out covered drawers/cabinets. Seriously puts a smile on my face!!!

I just have to say that I have fallen in love with ALL your FRIENDS!! Ditto, ditto and more ditto! I love how you can freely admit your always and nevers and will probably copy you on my blog one day in one way or another. You are so FUN! And yes...I'm totally a blog stocker!!

You know what. I always loved to just hear you talk. When you moved, I missed comments in Sunday School most. I wouldn't worry about that conversation monopolizing, though I worry about it for myself. For a quiet gal, I sure can talk about myself (if it's to the right person)
I wish I were more the type that could always and never, but I am finally doing two very important things daily, so I'm improving, too. :)

I like posts like this because it means I get to learn more about you.

We are a lot alike in many of these things.

You are very beautiful, Jessica. I know...I always say that...but it is true. Your eyes are stunning.

My whole house is a mess today. I am going to try and be at peace that all of the mess is hidden by doors...yeah, the front and back door, that is.

You crack me up!

BTW, there's something liberating about admitting one's disorganization/messiness. i just went through that. I have a love/hate relationship with that part of myself. I also suffer from conversation domination...and remorse :)

I NEVER tuck my kids in either. Peter does it, every single night unless he is at work. And even then, Abby is still up, and he tucks her in when he gets home. My kids are lucky that way.

Oh, and how are you liking Parenthood? I posted a while ago that I watched it, because people ask me all the time if I do b/c of the Autism aspect. I set a tivo, and watched it once, and said I probably wouldn't watch it anymore because it felt like I was re-living my life. I lied. I am still watching it, and it IS like re-living my life, but in a more cathartic way. :)

Your posts are always fascinating. When I think of people who live the best life they can (and who I try to shamelessly copy) you are right up there.
Also that pic of you and Ryan is stunning!

I can relate to so many of your absolutes, just about everything except the napping and exercising, don't do those. But I should. Wonder what my boss would think if I pulled out a mat about 1:00 and laid down for a little pick me up?

You are just too cute. Love this post and that pic of you & Ryan (ADORABLE!!!) I love that you go on weekly date nights. I like to call ours Friday Night Date night (we stay in) but it's the one night that it's just about us :)

You don't monopolize the convo, you're very interesting and I love hearing what you have to say!!

All reasons why I love you! Except the weight thing...I hate that for you.

Late to read and late to comment...but this is a genius post. You are good at introspection.
