Tuesday Tummary

We've just been having too much summer around to bother with Sunday Summaries...

Emma is shown here, exulting over the last day of school. She's wearing the shirt all of her classmates signed (just in case you think I send her to school on the last day wearing oversized men's T-shirts).

We met up with bikes at the school and rode to McDonald's for a celebration lunch--along with half of our little town. (The noise level in that PlayPlace was deafening.)

Later that evening, we continued the party by taking the whole family to our favorite local hike in Coeur d'Alene. Seth did the whole thing at a dead run in a hilarious and darling attempt to keep up with his siblings.

Jane enjoyed the sundaes-as-big-as-your-head at the local dessert shop. One (we had many) was called The Big Bash and we don't think she ever got the name right. "Can I have some Major Mash, mom? Some Berry Bash? The Cake Smash?"

On Saturday, we had the thrill of the annual piano recital. (FYI: piano recital pictures rarely turn out to be anything you'd want to enter in a photo contest).

After the recital, we took a walk around the town's HUGE yard sale extravaganza and the kids picked up some major treasures: Jane--a new stuffed animal (always need one to add to our 82 others) and some broken heart sunglasses. Emma--a wine glass dangly thing. Gabe, however, actually bought something useful: a $3 scooter that he's been on ever since.

Sunday we had such a fun Father's Day that we didn't take any pictures. Ryan requested my Mother's Day Meal (with Key Lime pie for dessert) and I almost cried with joy that he didn't take any of his gifts back (a Garmin running watch, a MP3 player and money for some new clothes).

On Monday, we called in the family favors and invited ourselves over to Uncle Doug and Aunt Marcy's swimming pool and had a great time. Here's Seth in his goggles:

Gabe ditched us yesterday for his "8 year old Week" with Grandma Nut/Romney. She hosts all the cousins who turn 8 for a week of movies, San Fransisco trips, swimming and their favorite food. Here he is getting on the airplane with cousin Mallory:

We already miss him like crazy. Especially when he calls us and leaves messages that make him sound like he's 4 years old.

Waking up late, hanging out in swimsuits and eating popsicles is our description of heaven and we are there right now. Hope you all are enjoying your summer!

"Enjoying summer" is a loaded phrase. I am enjoying it.. to a degree. But, I could have done without the bloody nose, the whining, and the wedgie (to the four year old) that occured today. I'm not even making that up. Summer is enjoyable and exhausting in equal parts!

"Astute" is a loaded word to. I had to look it up. Seriously.

Summer is not summer unless we can go swimming and exhaust ourselves most days of the week. I love the giant, larger than life ice cream sundaes. YUM. Gotta love that yard sale junk. It's up there with the McDonald's toys. Stuff that only becomes valuable once again when you see that mom has tossed it in the trash can.

What a great 8 year old idea, but I think I would die without Andrew around that long, how are you holding up?

That hike looks amazing! It is so dang hot here, that we are not doing anything outside that does not involve water.

Or sleep.. :)

What a fun summer! I've sent my kids into a depression spiral by telling them we probably won't swim too much this summer, due to the arrival of a newborn. I'm having to redefine my idea of Summer.

Yeah. Haven't come up with any fun things yet to replace swimming. Help!

Please, come be Fun Mom at my house!

Great 8 year old idea; want one of those sundaes!

We've got summer vacation, but no sleeping in late?!?!

I am glad you are having a lovely summer :)

I just have to say that I think your kids are so cute. I know I always say that but, I truly do think so. You know how you recently said that Gabe is in a, "good-looking" phase? I must say that I totally agree.

I love the picture of little Seth running to keep up with his siblings. :)

By the way...I totally understand what you mean about being deafened in a McDonalds PlayPlace.

We are enjoying our summer.... I guess it beats the cold and snow. However, I am missing having preschool and my own time!

Ok-the T-shirt signing thing; been seeing those around and I think I like book signing better. You guys look like you are having a blast; we love summer too! But, boy is it hard to blog.

Oh, I could SO use a McD's trip-loud and hot atmosphere and all.

I didn't think there was such a thing as an outdoor swimming pool in Spokane! I'm glad summer is finally here.

Congrats on giving return-free gifts. I held my breath for Dan (dress shirts and tie) and miracle of all miracles, I got it right. Made me feel better about the father's day dress, shirts, and shoes purchases for me (hey, I had to buy a few things while looking for stuff for Dan).

It always kills me how young my kids sound on the phone.

Can I send my daughter next year to 8 year old camp?

Sounds like the perfect summer so far :)

I want to hike where YOU hike! Beautiful. Yay for summer, the kids look so happy school is done.

Does Grandma Nut have 34 year old camp? I wanna go. Seth is adorable chasing the kids and in his swim outfit. Does he actually get in?
