Some suggestions

Visit this:
This is my good friend Jessica A's adoption website. They are dying for a baby and apparently the way most couples get to adopt is because a friend of a friend knows someone who is thinking about placing their child for adoption.
They should definitely place with Aric and Jessica.

Rent this:
Totally scary and a little violent, but kept me guessing the whole time. And thinking about it for days afterward. Loved it.
Use this:
This is my favorite face tanner. They were out of it when I went to buy it this season and I got another brand and DO NOT like it as much. Except I think this picture says gel bronze and I hate bronzer, so I get the Clinique face tanner without bronzer. Totally natural look, no skin cancer.
Read this:
Of the books I've read in the past couple of months, I'd have to say this was my favorite. Kind of a slightly more adult, girlish Harry Potter--I thought it was a total page turner and have loved the sequels.
Watch this:
Quite possibly my favorite show of the year. And Ryan's. Don't tell him I told you.
Make this:
BBQ Chicken Salad
Layer:
romaine lettuce
tomatoes
green onions
heated black beans
monterey jack cheese
grilled chicken--
(I grill it with bbq sauce on it and then toss it with more)
ranch dressing
Serve with bread or whole wheat muffins and fruit. Easy, fast, yummy summer meal.
Anything else you need?

I loved the Great and Terrible Beauty books. I still need to see I am Legend and I am going to start watching So You Think You Can Dance for the first time with some friends!

Thank you for all of the suggestions!

You know what is so funny?...I was going to ask you about your BBQ chicken salad recipe because in your last Sunday Summary you said that Ryan said, "You are the best wife ever" after having tasted it...I so love it when my husband thinks that I am the best wife ever...the compliment that Ryan gave you was the best endorsement for a recipe that I have heard in a long time. :D

I Am Legend is WAY TOO scary, especially if you just had a baby and you're up multiple times a night. Just thinking about it makes me want to turn on all the lights. Seriously, so scary.

So You Think You Can Dance is the best! Audrie and I love watching it together.

Nathan and I are totally addicted to that show. Oops. I am sure I wasn't supposed to tell anyone either. I have heard great things about that bronzer so I truly must put it on my wish list now. Also that chicken salad looks so yummy. Great, now I'm hungry again.

Those are all excellent suggetions. I need a new book to read like I need a hole in my head (currently have about 10 waiting for me) but will add that to my internet list.

Christie said...

Oh, and I haven't seen that movie or the tv show. Will add those, as well.

Anything else you find that I am missing, please pass it on.

That show is the best ever, even if the name is somewhat awkward. Carl does NOT partake, but my kids are fans. I close their eyes during the immodest parts.

SYTYCD! I love it! Of course, being the reality tv junky that I am.. but it is great. However, I think I am missing my favorite coreographer! Shane Sparks! I hope he comes on this year! (See, I know too much about it already)

thanks for the tips. Your welcome for the maternity stuff. Consider your thank you note done. Go Green and save paper!!! e-thank you's are just as valid as paper ones. Hope you are feeling well. So excited for you and the prize you will get soon. I am so in love with my baby it's not even funny, I don't even like my other kids, it's sad. Just kidding of course.

A cheap babysitter.

The recipe sounds fabulous!

Loved "I am Legend"! We watched the directors cut and the ending was TOTALLY different! So see that version if you can!

We're on the So You THink You Can Dance bandwagon. Dx watches it too and thinks he's a judge.

LOVE LOVE LOVE So You Think You Can Dance! I was just saying to my mom the other day - 'remember when there wasn't ANYTHING on TV during the summer.' It wasn't as hard to fit it all in :) - now we've got good summer TV and still LOTS to do. I really struggle with this - THANK HEAVEN for TiVO!

Thanks for the link. I so hope our babies come around the same time. Maybe they're hanging out right now...what a fun thought....

I don't know what I would've done if SYTYCD didn't start up again. No lost, no survivor, no American Idol. Heaven forbid I actually stopped watching tv!

And I am totally making the bbq salad on Sunday.

Oh and we own I AM LEGEND. You guys were supposed to come over and watch it with us like five months ago. Aric will be sad to find out you watched it without us. He's such a baby about the theater room.

Two things- a) where in the h are you finding tomatoes for your salad these days? Every where I turn there are practically paramedics standing by for another salmonella patient.
And b)- SYTYCD is by far my favorite show (I know- that says a lot about me doesn't it?!). I have gone to the tapings for the last two seasons- a perk of living in LA- and it made me love it even more. Yeah for the new season!

Okay, I heard coyotes growling in my neighborhood as I tried to fall asleep at 11:30 at night after watching 'I AM LEGEND'. Hadn't felt that childlishly scared in a long time! =) Thanks for the recipe...oh, and we adopted all our kids through word of mouth..best way to go (and easiest on the pocketbook!). =) Good luck to your friends!

Yes Yes Yes!
I Am Legend is way awesome. I saw it in the theater and screamed out loud. LOVED it.
I love lotion tanners and am always looking for a good one that doesn't stink. Does this one??
SYTYCD has got to be the hottest show of the summer. I loved Benji from two years ago. Loved him almost as much as David A. from AI. Almost.
A Great and Terrible Beauty has been on my list of To-Reads for some time now. Maybe I'll suggest it as one of our book club reads so I'll be forced to read it sooner than later.
And BBQ chicken salad?? YUM.
Good luck to your friends on adoption. What a long haul...

SO adding that book to my Good Reads list.

Wow, you're bossy!

*wink* It's nice to know your strongest recommendation with books. Good Reads can be wonderfully overwhelming.

I did not make it to the end of I Am Legend because of what happened to his dog. I couldn't get past it.

Must check out that book. Sounds interesting.

I am TOTALLY hooked on SYTYCD. Whatever did I do before? I'm mad at myself for missing the previous seasons.

Good luck to your friends with their adoption, I am Legend is awesome, I'm headed to the Clinique counter in about 2 hours (we'll see if the tanner can fix the problem of no good sun in Utah), I'm looking forward to this new book, SYTYCD is amazing (I somehow found it during the first season and really fell in love with it when Benji was on), I'm really looking forward to the BBQ salad. Thanks for the tips!

gab said...

Yes! I was hoping you'd post the recipe. Thanks for the book rec. too!

the salad sounds good! Can you come and make it for me?

Love SYTYCD but HATE I am Legend. It seriously freaked me out. I also thought about it for days, it a bad kind of way. It didn't help that we had a 24 hour power outage that night.

zeeny said...

Thanks for all the great tips! I'll have to try the salad! We like SYTYCD around here too. My Ryan mostly just watches the try outs though!

I did not want to see I am legend but ended up really liking it. I love all the tips.

Stacy said...

Great tips! I am loving SYTYCD, too (along with everyone else, apparently!)...man, I wish I could dance!!! I am Legend freaked Cade out to the point that he had to leave the room. Funny, huh? Maybe "Mr. Tough Guy" isn't so tough after all (plus he likes bunny rabbits!)

I haven't ever tried that face tanner. Now I need to. Especially because I love everything else Clinique.

And I love the movie 'I am Legend'. If you need a good chick flick, see 'P.S. I love you'. I LOVED it.

Glad to be back to your blog!!

I need a new book to read, since I have just finished "The Host". Thanks!

Ilene said...

You.

That is what else I need.

Glad you liked the Bray books. I really hated the way she had to twist the relationship between Phillipa and I forget the other girl's name. LAME. But of course that didn't stop me from ignoring my kids and reading each book until 2am.

Dan read the book "I am Legend" and liked it until the end because it left him hanging. I haven't read it yet. Honestly, I fell asleep during the movie. I'm no good in a dark room.

diane said...

I love your suggestions. I want someone to make that salad for me. Maybe my daughter...I like to teach my kids 3 things to cook during the summer.

I am most appreciative of the self-tanner advice - I am such a ghost! Thank you for always sharing all the good things you know, you're a lifesaver.

I LOVE recommendations.
1. Caught the very very end of I am Legend. Looked scary - I don't do scary. I spent several nights a month alone in my house on 7 acres.
2. Never seen SYTYCD. Am I a loser?
3. I am totally going to buy that face tanner.
4. Salad sounds delicious.

LOVE that show. I love that I can watch it with my whole family.

I didn't like the end of I am Legend... But then again, I am used to kids movies with lots of singing involved and happy endings, so it is all relative...

Jenibelle said...

I am so out of the loop with all this stuff. Haven't read the book, seen the movie, experience the TV show, eaten the salad. I guess what I need is a life like yours.

It's Dave and my little secret that every wednesday and thurs.night when the children are tucked in, we tip toe to our room, close the door and flip on So You Think You Can Dance (TiVo, of course) then all night long I dream that I CAN dance.

Ok I've been meaning to tell you that I loved A Great and Terrible Beauty. I'm a little nervous since some people didn't love the 3rd book. But I'm halfway through the 2nd one now! And it's good too.

As you know from my blog, I love SYTYCD.

And, I've requested I Am Legend from the library. The BBQ salad looks yummy. I will have to try it. You should try my chicken pasta salad that I posted this last month. It's yummy too!

You should try the movie Cloverfield if you haven't seen it already. It's kinda interesting. It's by JJ Abrahms and it's all done with a handheld video camera. JJ wrote The Alias series (which I loved) and the series LOST.
