3:00 pm, Tuesday afternoon

"Let me tewh you something, Mom. I had the best day of Pweschool, evowh."

"I went to the Albewtson's, but not the one by ouw house, the one by Teachoh Bawbwa's house and they gave us this red balloon and a gwanola baw and these fwuit snacks. We saw all the places of the food and then we came home."

"Isn't that the best day of my life, Mom?"

"Make sure Seth doesn't eat my gwanola baw, Mom."

Five minutes later...

crying "Something happened, Mom. I didn't do something wrong, Mom. I was playing with those kids, not Austin and Amboh, the other kids, and I got my red balloon to show them and then huge gulping sobs I let go of it. And it floated all the way up in the air and I couldn't get it."

"Do balloons go to heaven, Mom?"

I just like how you write with the accent. Perfect.

Lisa-Marie once sent me something too. I still feel guilty, and I still love her for live.

I can't mail. I'm allergic.

Ohhhhhhhhhh....so heartbreaking!

As always Jessica, I love how you wrote this out exactly as she says it...so, sweet...

I think all red balloons do go to heaven...will you tell Jane I said so?

Laurie said...

You should tell Jane that balloons do go to heaven, so she'll feel better.

Personally, I think they go to hell; or rather, that's where I'd like to send them. They're a sure-fire way to increase fighting, whining, hitting, and messes at my house.

Tell her the memory of her balloon will live on in her heart forever.

(I like to attribute this nugget of wisdom to Celine Dion and the Titanic movie makers).

Missed you at McD's today.

SAD!

This story reminded me of a book I read when I was little:

If I remember correctly, this little boy chases a red balloon around the city... See if your library has it.

Poor little thing...had the best day ever then she goes and looses her balloon.

there is this french movie about a little boy and his red balloon (if you've taken high school French then I'm sure you've seen it) and he runs around paris looking for his balloon when it goes missing.
This post reminded me of that.

Ba--lon. Ba-lon.

You have truly mastered the art of writing just like children speak!

She's so cute! Balloons always disappoint in the end. If they don't fly away they die. Tate loved that field trip too. Did you hear that apparently cows live at Albertsons, but they could only hear them - not see them. Funny!

Yes, the phonetic spelling is awesome. Although it does take concentration on my part to read it which some days is hard to muster. Balloons bring much happiness followed by much sadness.

I saw that same movie Shannan saw, but in elementary school. It made me very anxious and I just wanted him to get the darn balloon.

Don't show her the movie, 'cause I think he finally gets it in the end.

I love how she tells on herself.

I am with Celia I love how when you quote what your kids say you write it exactly how they say it. It's a talent.
Too cute that she asked if they go to heaven. Of course where else would they go? Oh I saw that movie Audry was talking about. It still haunts me. It was so strange. the whole time the boy is chasing his balloon and they called it art?

Yes, sweet Jane...YOUR red balloons go to heaven!

Adrianne said...

This is exactly why you're sad Jane is starting kindergarten. I would be too.

Isn't it cute how easily kids can have "the best day ever"? That was sweet.

And Jane was so sweet in Primary today, but so sad. Tell her I thought she did a GREAT job!! I will tell her when I see her. The whole time she was up there, I was thinking...Jessica is totally going to blog about this.

She is the cutest girl ever. She's going to love that you blogged everything she said all the time! Love it.

Amen, amen, amen to Laurie. My feelings EXACTLY.

But poor Jane. Please update on the Gwanola baw please. I hope no one ate it and that she has it foweva.

Oh, this just made me SAD. Thanks a lot! It's such a metaphor for why life sucks sometimes.

Downer.

we actually ended up going back to the same albertson's right after the fieldtrip (because we had nothing to eat for lunch - but luckily lilli had her granola bar -which she donated to mercer - and apple -which she donated to dexter and cookie - which she ate herself) and mercer opened the car door and, sniff, sniff, lilli's purple balloon flew right up to heaven as well.

awww--losing a balloon is tragic! I love how you type the way she talks according to how it sounds--soooo cute!

ALWAYS happens to us with ANY balloon. So obnoxious when the meltdown happens.

But your kid dialect is awesome. When Faith starts talking in cute baby talk, I'm totally stealing your idea and doing the same thing on my blog whether you like it or not!

She is so sweet.
I do have to say, though, if all balloons go to heaven then there won't be room for any of us.

Well.... do they?

Awwwww....reminds me of that movie with the red balloon from when I was a kid (which was riveting by the way....not).
