Was it a cliffhanger for you, too?

I know you've all been on the edge of your seats wondering about which job we were taking and if we were moving.

I'm about to put you out of your misery...

Is it Portland, with its' top-in-the-industry job, $500,000 houses and Bridget?

Or is it Spokane, with its' emerging company that will afford lots of opportunity, the best neighborhood in the world, and my cute bathroom?

(drum roll please...)

After much prayer and fasting (on Ryan's part, duh...not suffering this morning sickness for nothing!), we just really did not feel good about a move to Portland (so so so sorry Bridget, I'm sad to not be physical friends!). The Portland company upped their offer after Ryan turned them down, and called after the SECOND "no" to let him know there would always be a job, should he change his mind...but we just felt much better about staying here and the opportunities Ryan will have in managing, hiring, marketing and engineering with the company that's buying out his old employer.

We are happy. Always we've felt inspired to move and take on a new town, so we can hardly believe we actually get to STAY. This job "loss" has turned out to be a blessing, career-wise and financially for us and are deeply grateful for your prayers and a Heavenly Father who knows us and guides us throughout our lives.

Start praying for Celia now...she says it was an April Fool's joke, but who really knows?

Darnit!

I mean, so good for you, but bad for me.

I was still hoping you would find something in AZ so you could be my Stacy replacement.

Not that Stacy can EVER be replaced (in case she reads this.)

Yes, it was a cliffhanger--I've been wondering.

So glad you feel good about the decision and it's worked out so well. I wouldn't want to leave that bathroom either. By the way, your bathroom wallpaper and my sofa could be long lost cousins.

Honestly though, aren't you SO GLAD you don't have to think about moving being pregnant and with a newborn? I'm so happy for you guys. Ryan must be a wanted man!

I'm so glad you are staying because I NEED to hang out with you when we are staying with the in-laws.

And your bathroom and entire house is perfect. You can't leave that house; especially that bathroom. My house, not a pain to leave.

Isn't it funny how our husbands' job losses turned out to be a GOOD thing for their career? Thankfully, Someone else has better vision than I.

Yes, it was a cliffhanger! It's a good thing I am such a forgiving person because if not I'd really be mad. In all seriousness, I'm glad you guys got your answer. Not moving is always so much easier anyway, especially when you are pregnant. At least there's blogapalooza to bring us virtual friends together.

Change is hard but lucky for you change doesn't mean moving while pregnant or giving up your favorite bathroom!

Glad things have worked out so well and that you get to keep your perfect bathroom.

It really was a cliffhanger! Congratulations -- I'm glad you don't have to deal with the pains of moving with the pregnancy and everything else. And what a blessing for your husband to have two great jobs to choose from. Life is good, right???

Heck yeah we will!!!!

I will once again put moving to Spokane on the back burner. (a just-in-case we ever decide to move from KC).

Congratulations!

Jessica, I have read your comments and a post about you on Bridget's blog, so I thought I'd check yours out to see if you'd be moving. I posted a very similar experience on my blog last month.

Even when we knew we were suppose to stay, it was still sort of hard to say no, especially when they counter offer. How do people make these really hard decisions without divine intervention and then not question their decision later on?

It's comforting to know we don't have to do this alone. Now we can go forward with faith and confidence in the future...Best wishes to your cute family.

What a relief to know what you're doing... and to be so sure of it. Congratulations.

(although Portland is WONDERFUL!!!)

Congratulations on the decision. I know that had to be a stressful time.

I was wondering when you were going to spread the good word.
So happy for you guys. That's a huge decision and it's nice when everything works out and you get to stay where you're happiest... in the house with the cute bathroom. That's the most imporant thing.

Um, even though you talked about me no one else is. Me me me.

Was it an April Fools Joke? Send money and find out for sure.

Cheers for stability.

I am so happy for you! I truly, truly am! It was a clilffhanger! I must confess that I did notice you made a comment on Ilene's "new house in Boise post" about staying because I am obsessed with everything you say...er, I mean, I just happened to notice...

The thing that I think I am most excited about for you for is... that you get to stay in that fabulous neighborhood! Those are so hard to come by.

What a, "feather in Ryan's cap" that he was so heavily sought after in Portland, and he will have an even better position then the one he had in Spokane prior to this whole ordeal.

I love that bathroom by the way. Did you paint the cabinetry black or does it just look that way in the picture?

CONGRATS! I bet your neighbors/ward are breathing a sigh of relief that you are staying!

I am happy for you...glad you don't have the trauma of moving and selling a home. (I was afraid it might cut into our blog time together...)

I'm glad you guys made a decision. Isn't it nice to have options? Sometimes even having that is a blessing. Bummer you won't live near Bridget. Had I mentioned her husband's 16-layer cake? If you change your mind, I know he'd make you one. Congrats on the new job though!

Rochelleht said...

Yeah! That so much easier. And I did pray for you. I'm glad it is such a good thing for you guys. This economy is looking scary, so it's a good time to be sitting with a job and not moving. Congratulations!

Congrats on making a decision you're happy with. Since neither are anywhere near me, I didn't have a preference. Your bathroom probably would have swayed me. I mean, you could almost get over your morning sickness in there--it's so cute.

I'm glad this opportunity came up and y'all can stay with your roots.

Your post reminded me of House Hunters on HGTV.

We are so happy you are staying! Now if we could only find a way to get Ilene and the Barnett's to stay!

So Calgary is not going to happen then... we have got to get together this summer. We really are close.

NOt moving is always good news. I'm glad you don't have that extra stress added to you preg. sickness. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Even though Portland is closer I think we have a better chance of seeing each other with you staying in Spokompton.

So glad things are working out for you. We love you!

I am sure it feels good to have the decision done with. It's always so stressful during the indecisive period and not knowing. Glad you get to stay in your cute home and great neighborhood. Too bad you aren't coming back to Cali

Congratulations! What great news. I hope your husband will love the new job, and for your sake I am happy that you get to stay put.

If you are happy, I'm happy. Nothing like a little job dust-up to get the unemployment fear juices rolling.

Ohhhh THANK YOU! I am glad you finally gave THAT update! :) I will consider bringing you cupcakes soon!

There is something that is so exciting about new possibilities but there is nothing like the comfort of home. I grew up in Calgary and we spent many a summer over the border buying cheap American goods in Spokane. :-)

Congrats! I am relieved for you not to have to move whilst being pregnant. Phew!

Sounds like it was the best choice for you guys! Congrats!

Yay for us! And the peach drink isn't a recipe...it is a jar of peaches whirled in a blender with ice until the ice is crushed. Delish!

I guess I will be glad for blogs to keep me updated instead of insulted that you don't return my calls so I can't find out these things in another fashion. Congrats...I'm truly happy that you get to stay there for a while, especially as I don't see a decorating trip possible in the near future.

I hope Ryan got a great gig! I was thinking of him and hoping he would be a tough negotiator either way. Well life stays status quo then and you stay in Liberty Lake, which is what you wanted, right?! Congrats to Ryan, and I am happy you guys get to keep your happy life there.
