The 14 Days of Valentines

Okay...this is totally mom/wife overkill. I realize this. Don't do it. It takes lots of effort.
That said: everyone involves loves it. I like that they feel extra special during this holiday.
These are the daily "treats" the children got each day (you can biggify the pictures to see the phrases-my-pun-loving-mom-would-appreciate):
Day 1: The Heart Shirts
Day 2: Everyone's favorite brunch (ebleskivers)
Day 3: Everyone's favorite desserts (raspberry cake parfaits)
Day 4: Little strawberry seed-pots
Day 5: Fun cereal
Day 6: New socks
Day 7: I took each kid, alone, to lunch
Day 8: I did everyones' chores (both daily and weekend!)
Day 9: We picked and filled out their class Valentines
Day 10: New underwear...yippee!
Day 11: New DVD
Day 12: Candy
Day 13: Dollar Toys
Day 14: We'll have a Valentine breakfast...but if I upload it tomorrow, it will mess up my pictures. So I'm not.
Ryan gets some of his individual fun stuff. Things that are family-blog-appropriate include a lunch date, a massage, a carwash coupon, his favorite dinner, etc.
So there it is for posterity. Happy Valentines' Day!

Nice disclaimer at the beginning! You can be a fun holiday mom and not feel bad about it! I love it all, and am so glad you shared.

And now I'd like on of those parfaits, please. Please also post the picture of breakfast tomorrow. I'm looking forward to pretending to consume it.

Wow. I'm feeling a bit shamed. Although it looks like Jane feels about as tired as I am.

What fun you make for your lucky family. But are you ready to start the 17 days of St. Patrick's?

And what do you do for Columbus Day?

Oh, Jessica! That was totally wonderful!!!! I am being totally sincere when I say that you are a wonderful, and creative Mom!

I love your use of the word, "biggify"...I am seriously wondering how I can use it in everyday conversation! For example: if one of my kids asks for more milk I could say, "Oh, do you need me to "biggify" your portion of milk?"

Seriously, you are awesome :)I love that you are a "pun-loving" Mom....er, I meant, fun loving :)

What a great mom,you put me to shame. I didn't even get gifts for my kids this year,(where did this month go???) so I will just try to shower them with kisses and maybe I can muster up some heart shaped pancakes this morning.

Wow. Sometimes reading blogs is bad for my self-esteem. Please don't let my children know about this. They would be SOOOO jealous.

You rock it, girl! You take Valentine's week to a whole new level. We've been celebrating all week, too, but you rock.

Ummm...I ran to Target yesterday to get gifts for the family while Zach popped home for lunch. I was just glad I could get them anything at all!! You are very prepared! Great job!! That really looks like a lot of fun.

You are awesome Jessica! Way to go making your kids (and husband) feel so loved!

Yummy looking parfaits...I hope you post the recipe! :-)

That's a fun tradition. But you're right, it sounds like a lot of work. Definitely more work than sending your dh to old navy at 5pm the night before hoping they still have some shirts left (phew! they did).

Those parfaits look delish!

I am amazed. THe first year MArio and I were together I took inspiration from you and gave him 14 days of Valentine's. Last year I tried to do 14 days of Valentine's service, but think I only got about 10 completed. This year I was trying to make him a card before he got home from lunch and he came home early. I thought one kid and arriving home from vacation on day 1 were good excuses. Clearly, they are not.

Fun! I want to steal this for next year. An 8 month old will get it right?

I cannot believe how cute this idea is. I do their chores half the time anyway, so I might as well get credit for it once!

What a fun mom! I may steal this idea. Our family LOVES ebleskivers. We have them for Christmas breakfast every year.

Next year, you need to post this early enough that I can do it! So, cute, but, I could never come up with all of that cuteness on my own! Please, a little more early planning next time! :)

What a super star you are! Give yourself a pat on the back and take some time off until President's Day. Or St.Patricks Day, or Easter.....you must be busy.

Seriously Jessica, you two could and SHOULD write books on your creative parenting.

You're amazing.

What lucky kiddos! I DID make pink heart shaped pancakes this morning but that was as good as it got this year!

Forget it...I give up...you totally win...I'm not worthy.

No, it really is a good idea. Look for my identical post next year when I try to be you.

I want to be like you too!
You have some lucky, lucky kids there. Levi would love it if I just gave him SOMETHING! I really need to work on that next year.

What a FUN idea! Oh, and I'm not paying attention to the 'too much work' disclaimer. I should do this next year for my kids. I'm always looking for fun ways to overextend myself. =)

Wow Jess. All that and blogging too. I need to lie down after reading that post.

My kids got M&Ms. That is the perk of having kids 3 years old and under. They think m&Ms are the cat's meow.

Just like their mom.

Dan got a little "etc." as you phrased it.

Meghann said...

Okay, you make me feel like the most boring mom EVER!!! I'm totally copying your ideas next year. So there!

Jill said...

Cute. What an awesome mommy you are. Will you be mine!!??

Yeah, I want the parfait recipe too! YUMMY.
