Half-Full or Half-Empty?

Things I Don’t Feel Good About:

1.  That I still have 23 lbs to lose before I get to a happy weight

2.  That none of my clothes fit…I wear them, I just look like a big girl trying to fit in a smaller girl’s clothes.

3.  That I’m continually chagrined at how large I look in pictures

Things I DO Feel Good About:

1.  That I took second place at our local gym’s weight loss contest (I lost 6% body fat in 3 months!)

2.  That I tied for first place in our friend weight loss contest.

3.  That, after running consistent 10 minute miles while training for the half marathon, last Saturday, I finished it in 2:00:33—which, if you do the math, is a 9:06 minute mile average!

My friends who ran the race with me, and my husband who OBVIOUSLY grew up in the ghetto.

Way to go with the 1/2, I've signed up for one in Oct after our move. I just ran 8 miles last Friday in 1 hour and 15 minutes. I still have ten pounds to get to my goal weight, it's a process right.

Go Jessica! At the rate you're going, you'll get to your goal soon and in the meantime, you're awesome and beautiful anyway :).

I bow before your 9 minute mile.

Wow! That's an awesome race-day-adrenaline improvement!!! Very impressive. I have yet to run a half but am planning on Greenville in October & Myrtle Beach in February. Time to start training again, I guess. Also, 6% is a huge chunk of fat to have gone. I would be doing the happy dance for that one.

You are so incredibly awesome I can't handle it. The other day I ran ONE ten minute mile and thought about how you were running 13 in a row, and then you even beat that! Did you see Jesus? Did you cry? How much do you hurt?

I'd love to be 23 lbs from my goal weight. I'm working my tail off and starving and seriously 1/2 lb a week when I'm PERFECT. Let me tell you how much I'm perfect.

I say half-full.

You are amazing, beautiful, and a serious athlete.

9 min mile rocks the casbah.

If you can run a half-marathon you HAVE to feel good about your bod-no matter what size you would rather have it be. I think you're gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS. Good work girl...I'm attempting to follow in your footsteps.

YEAH YOU!!! We just finished our own point competition inspired by yours. We got points for sleep, no treats, and exercising everyday. It was great and now we are in the maintainence phase.

I am REALLY super impressed with your amazing running skillz.

That is a rockin' good time! Nice job!

You are awesome! I always admired your dedication to running/exercising. I remember seeing you on 4000 west pregnant and running up a storm and it made me ashamed that I was going to just go home and watch a show or something. Good job!

Congratulations- I would say you are doing awesome!!! I only wish I were so close to my goal weight and that fast. Way to go.

Totally half full -- just look at the fact that you are progressing and improving and not going the other way. Be proud of yourself, missy. You're inspirational!! And thanks for the nice comment re: my age...that was so great to hear.

Didn't anyone tell you that each child that births thru your body adds two months of returning to your "norm'!?!? Let's see, baby #5, OH that's 10 months of baby effort AFTER you are done nursing her...
RELAX you will be the next Marie Osmond "Jenny Craig" spokes-person before you know it!!
What will you spend ALL your endorsement $$$ one?
Remember muscle is SO much heavier than fat and you seem to be TRI athlete material!
WHO did you inherit the LOVE for running from?
I didn't know ANY runners in the previous generations of your family tree?!?!
Amazement and Aloha!!

GREAT JOB!

That is AWESOME!! Great job! My son took me for a bike ride last night and it almost killed me! I cannot imagine running a half-marathon! As for your ghetto husband...he's just trying to maintain his 'bad boy' image. Everyone knows that women love a 'dangerous' man!

Jessica, YOU are amazing! I really mean that.

After I birth this child the need for weight loss is going to be totally depressing. I started out at a higher weight than I have with any other pregnancy...and I a gaining weight like I have some sort of a death wish.

A nine minute mile!? Seriously, so fantastic. ☺ ☺ ☺

Your ghetto boy is cracking me up. He has major street cred. I can tell.

Jess I am so proud of you! I was there. You were amazing! You need to give yourself so much more credit! You had a BABY six months ago! A real baby. One you had to grow inside your body and then push out. Seriously. And you are still nursing!

I think you look fabulous and when I see you I see a gorgeous woman.

I just came over from Jessica's blog. You guys are incredible. Congratulations!

I ran a 9 minute mile in 7th grade.

I don't know what I run now because well, I haven't timed a mile since 7th grade.

Way to go on the weight loss! So what do you win for losing weight? A gift certificate to an all-you-can-eat buffet?

YOU JUST HAD A BABY.

Stop beating yourself up. It will come. And, honey, that is a killer time for a half marathon. Way to go.

A half marathon deserves WAY MORE of a post than that. I'd be posting pictures of myself all over the internet! Own it girl, you rock!!!!

mahina said...

i am so with you! i have about 20 pounds to lose since this baby was born 4 months ago and that is after losing 8 pounds already! why is it such a slow process this time around!!?? ugh! i wear my small clothes too, and feel even fatter because of the squish! but i am not going to go buy new clothes that i better not be fitting into in a few months! anyway, wearing the small clothes motivates me to lose the weight!!

awesome job on the half marathon! you rock!

Way to go! Amazing.

half empty - sorry to rock the positive boat girls but there's no way around it. It sucks - process and all. Plus, if you're like me you're also a complete cow until it comes off. But hey - keep it up and AWESOME running.

I never thought of Tracy as the ghetto, but now that you mention it...

Losing weight sucks.

Alex McMurray said...

I went to high school with Ryan and Brooke and he might've grown up near the ghetto but was definitely not in it. I think he just likes to pretend.

Congrats on the 1/2 marathon! That is amazing! Great job!

You ARE the biggest loser in my book. I am so glad that term has a different meaning than it did 5 years ago.

You are looking amazing and that time. . .? Girl, you rock. And you beat my time. Loser (in today's definition, not 5 years ago.) I totally would have pounded out a few miles with you while you were here if I had known you were in training.

When is the FULL? Or is that like asking a mother who delivered if she was thinking of getting pregnant tomorrow?

You are so awesome!

Un, you lost weight while we were on VACATION. IT's taking longer than you want, but you will totally get there.
