Good Old Sunday Summary

On Monday, our little preschool co-op went to the pumpkin patch. We'd neglected to reserve an official tour, so we wandered around in the pumpkin fields, picking through the rotten pumpkins and then pushed them toward a cornfield and said, "Okay! Walk through the corn maze!" The bigger kindergartners (Jane and cousin Elise), who had gone on an Official Field Trip with the Kindergarten, kept saying, "But this isn't right! There's no path!" Luckily, 3 year olds are too dumb to care about "Official Field Trips" and loved being outside by tractors, hay trucks and rotting pumpkins.
For Family Home Evening, we did a Food Storage Assessment night--basically we went through our food storage and counted how much of everything we have, and what things need updating, in order to get to a full years' supply. Surprisingly, the brownies, chocolate chips and canned peaches had been completely depleted. Above is Gabe re-enacting how many cans of Spaghetti Sauce we have. We finished the night with cookies made entirely from food storage (except the eggs and butter)...peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip (used the last bag!) cookies.
Oh! Guess what?!
We got booed on Thursday night!!
Who would have guessed, I'd get booed?!
Crazy!
Here's us returning the Boo favor. We made sugar cookies. Can you guess which cookies got delivered and which got left home for personal Romney enjoyment?
Our across the street neighbors hosted the second annual pumpkin carving party. I love this party. You know why? Because then I don't have to do it myself! They served carrot soup and roasted apples and Emma carved this darling pumpkin all by herself. The boy on the left, later in the day, did a little pre-Halloween vandalism and smashed her pumpkin in the driveway. Can you say Future Juvenile Delinquent?
Today was the Primary Program. Jane (see above in her Shabby Apple/Primary Program special attire) has stage fright issues. We talked about it a little today and she said, "I think before I go up there, I will say a prayer and ask to not be scared." It must have worked because she didn't burst into tears until after she'd delivered a memorized and darling "Our Prophet today is Thomas S. Monson." Gabe and Emma did their parts totally tearless.
In the audience was this guy. He didn't pay attention to anything his siblings said, but he must be paying attention somewhere. During the administration of the sacrament, I asked him what the bread helps us remember. His reply? "Jesus died and they hurt his hand like dis: Bam! Bam! (simulating hammer-pounding on his hand) and his shoes like dis: Bam! bam! and his side like dis Bam!Bam!" (see above for Bam! demonstration).
So, on that uplifting note...we'll leave you for this week. Bam!

Oh, I love Jane and her smashing pumpkin vandalism. You should maybe play a Smashing Pumpkins song for her. And why is Seth so ridiculous and random all the time!? I wonder where he learns all this crazy stuff!? Probably from his silly sister! Love Emma's pumpkin, she's so creative and artsy! And I love Gabe's great gross comment about is magically clean feet! Hah! Love and miss you guys lots!

Poor Jesus. People just can't stop talkin' about his violent death. Good moms make sure the pumpkin patch field trip happens on a day she is not in charge, and then feels guilty for missing it. A few pumpkins at the grocery store and a picture constitutes pumpkin patch for my last kid. Poor thing.

Love your summary. Any Boo's me they are going to get tootsie rolls and candy corn because that's the candy that is always left over But congrats on getting your Booing Wish!

Very impressive, Seth. I love Jane's dress. And I'm with Bekah, WHY can't I hang out with them too?

Poor little kids at the rotting pumpkin patch! Good thing they are so easily distracted by big equipment and dead corn.

Loved the frowny pumpkin cookie.

I love the food storage FHE. Apparently we've been doing that a little too much at our house since we all sat down in the same room and Emma looked around and said, "Let's talk about food storage!"

Oh and I was a little shy about mentioning my blog because well, look at yours!

Your summaries are the funniest! My life seems less interesting somehow...except for the toe nail incident.☺

Thanks for sharing that you got Boo-ed, Halloween can now go on...! (I LOVE homemade sugar cookies w/ frosting!)
We do our Primary Presentation next week... THEN I get to fly to the mainland, YEAH! Love those little singing primary children!
Jax has decided to boycott Harvest Fairs for awhile,
maybe she'll blog it? Sure is fun that little window of time when kids LOVE to go get dirty pumpkins and carry 'em back to the car and then treasure 'em at home before they grow mold!?! The pictures are SO cute with your summary, have a GREAT pregnant week, they're numbered FEW left now, right!?!?

Excellent from above picture. You don't look nearly pregnant enough.

Ohhhhhhh, at least you got a picture of Emma's darling pumpkin before it met its demise. I love the picture of the adorable little vandal...he even looks kind of mischievous in the picture.

Our Primary Sacrament Meeting program is this Sunday. I love that Jane made it through her line, bless her heart...stage fright is a killer.

Congrats on getting a BOO! What a surprise ;) You look beautiful!

I can see that look in your eyes as you hold that Boo sign. An evil glint behind the smile, perhaps?
My condolences.
Jane is adorable. I loved Emma's pumpkin. RIP

I wish my neighbors would have a pumpkin carving party--probably my least fav thing about Halloween. Yet it is a necessary evil since I'm too snobby not to have carved jack-o-laterns. Our primary program is this Sun. but we're going to Yellowstone. Good thing too, since yesterday Dave and I watched and our 3-year-old picked his nose in the front row the whole practice. Leaving may save us weeks of humilitating comments from everyone in the ward.

I totally want to hang out with you and your kids too. What great pics of everybody this week. And even big girl dresses are too cute. I'll try not to turn green.

Seth....seriously...

Jane was so funny up there singing. Her expressions kept me laughing through my "I still miss primary" tears.

If only you'd given away the other cookies and kept the pretty ones for yourself. That'll teach people to Boo your house!

We made cookies for our neighbors. Of course they haven't made their way over to their house.

It is a curse to be such a fantastic baker.

My chocolate chip stash is amazing right now. The store has had them on sale for 1.68 for the good kind. Don't ask me how my veggie storage goes. I figure in a disaster luxury chocolate items will be quite the hot ticket for trading.

Oh man. I am dreading the whole sugar cookie pumpkin thing...didn't we just DO this?

But yours look really good.

My child will likely never know what a pumpkin patch is. Seriously hate it when neighbors don't teach their kids how to behave and they go around throwing things all day! Can I get a nursery update? Did you get the yellow dresser? How do you like it?

Our primary program was this last week too. Seriously, it's my FAVORITE sunday!
