Snovember (did I steal that title from another Spokane blogger? Probably)

The month started with Faith’s birthday.  (Little tip:  if you have the option of having your membranes stripped on Halloween: Don’t do it.  I know all you want is to get the baby out of there and that you think that having a birthday the day after Halloween can’t be bad.  It is.  You are exhausted from Halloween week, want to retch at the idea of a cake and no one wants to party after 72 parties, anyway.  Good thing she was only two and had no idea how badly she was shorted this year.)

Here’s some pictures from the day.

With presents:

With her cake (the tiniest, store bought thing that Safeway had to offer):Faithbday3

Before she fell asleep, while I rocked her like a little baby:

Also, on her birthday, our Pediatric dentist offered a “$1 per pound of candy” deal.  The kids were not too interested until I mentioned that Free Kids Meals at Red Robin were being offered.  They jumped.  This picture was front and center in the local paper the next week (maybe because the dentist was also our hometeacher??)

Also, I’m over Wolves in Cub Scouts.  And I love it.  Even after I had a mini-breakdown when the member of the bishopric (also known as Ryan) called me.  Even though I have no boys that age.  Even though it’s after school on our busiest night.  Even though I already have another calling.  Somehow that’s how callings work.  You say yes and even though there isn’t much in it for you…you walk away at the end with a happy feeling.

Also, this is how Faith spends her entire day.  Pushing our step-stool around like she’s 85 and this is her walker.  Mind your toes while in our kitchen.  Faith has counters to see over and egg cartons to get into.

My old iPhone broke.  Ryan got me a nice new one.  Gabe walks around the house pretending the broken iPhone is his.  (Could he teach some of that “imaginative play” to Faith so she’ll use her play kitchen?)  Here he is taking a picture of his PRETEND iPhone.

Also, we had the snowiest November on record.  LOVE breaking records like that!  The only good things about snow Novembers?  1)  Cute pictures  2) the kids totally want to play in it.  They refuse snow play in March.

Emma Sledding

Aunt Bekah took them sledding while here for Thanksgiving.  And took pictures.  Officially favorite sister.

Also, Seth and Ryan made this darling turkey “disguised” as a Captain Hook (just like Seth’s Halloween costume).  (This is why I put him in charge of these big school projects.)

Also, Seth was hilarious and awesome at this kindergarten Thanksgiving sing-a-long.  He only talked about it for 367 minutes the week before.  And that guy loves head gear.  You can find him wearing this baby any time of the day or night.

Awesome Seth

Also, we hosted Thanksgiving for my mom and her husband, Rick, my brother Sam and his new wife Stephanie and my youngest sibling Bekah.  All adults is kind of a nice way to go for Thanksgiving.

They appreciated all the food:

Here are Jane and Seth breaking the wishbone a few days later.

Hopefully they wished for another month as lovely and filled with busy fun as November.  (I wouldn’t mind if they stuck a “less snow” clause in there, though).

The part about Faith and her step stool made me laugh - my son is the same way! And the eggs! One day I got out of the shower and he had cracked 10 eggs in various locations around the house. UGH! And that step stool gets put on our deck often so he can't climb up and meet his death with a knife from the counter. Anyway, she's adorable, and I'm glad to know my kid isn't the only 2 year old with a step stool obsession!

You gave us the 12 days of Christmas last year, didn't you? Thank you. That bread was so good. And you were so generous. And I wish I could have watched you guys run down those stairs...

What is it about the youngest kids and pretend play? We got my daughter this AWESOME doll house and she only played if I joined in the fun. Yeah, you can imagine how often THAT happened.

Love the catch up post. I should do one. I am so behind.

Wow. You had a seriously busy month! Ha! You took a lot of good pics too.

Isn't funny how some of your kids are terrible at imaginative play? And others do great. It is a little frustrating at times.

Nice catch up! And, I TOTALLY agree about November 1st birthdays. James' is that day and I hate it! Looks like a great Thanksgiving, but oh, the snow! We've just had flurries so far. Not sure if I'm ready for all that white stuff!

I about tinkled when I read about Faith pushing her step stool around! YOU ARE HILARIOUS!!! Those photos are fantastic. Love Seth in his turkey head gear and Gabe's face in the dentist $1 candy pic. Your family is gorgeous!

Can I just say one more time how jealous I am of your holiday arrangements...and that food looks so good! I love the sledding pics. Someday I will be nice and take my kids.

I agree with Andrea...at first I thought you were saying that you are, over the wolves...as in, "I just can't take this anymore." I quickly realized what you meant, though. I appreciate your example. I have had some meltdowns recently (because of our ward splitting) and it really is true. You can end up with a happy feeling. I need to remember that.

That close up picture of Faith's face is so beautiful.

Awesome that your kids were in the paper. It's a cute picture and they look so thrilled.

Faith is killing me with her, "walker". Hilarious.

For some reason my computer isn't showing the picture of the turkey disguised as Captian Hook

The only thing worse than a baby the day after Halloween, is one the day before. And every few years (at least in Utah) Halloween is celebrated on Saturday the 30th.

Who wants to eat cake AND go trick-or-treating? But I didn't ask for it, my water just broke the morning of the 30th (10 years ago) and I thought, they better get this baby out before Halloween.

I feel your pain.

I used to think Faith looked just like Jane, but she is definitely getting her own look! Can't believe she is already 2.

I also think your Thanksgiving spread looked delicious! I cringe at the idea of hosting Thanksgiving though, but it sounds like it well for you.

Thanks for the positive comment on my blog! I love reading all about your adventures with 5 children. And we may steal the name Jane for our baby girl...it is definitely in the running!

Your kids are so cute and adorable! I can see within them that they are really happy with what they've been doing the past month. And as for their dentist, it's nice to know that they have such treats like that because candies can really damage our teeth. My dentist in Goose Creek has also treats for kids that are teeth-friendly. Goose Creek dentists have great dental services for kids and for kids at heart as well.
