Don’t Tell Me Stars Hollow Doesn’t Really Exist

350px-gilmore_girls_cast-300x249

Tip #1:  If you weren’t a fan when the series was running, start watching the 7 seasons of “Gilmore Girls.”  I was introduced about 2 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed the quick banter, quirky characters (Michel, Paris, Kirk), and smart humor.  It’s kind of a girl show, but my brother Nate and awesome husband are fans.

Tip #2:  You could rent them from Netflix, Blockbuster, or the library.  But if you want to be as smart as me try this:  Go onto Ebay, buy the first season, then sell it back on Ebay, and buy the next one. When I did this, I could usually almost re-coup my initial payment.  It was fun to have all the discs available and I felt so savvy when I would sell my season back for more than I paid!

Tip #3:  Find a friend to watch it with you, because nothing is more annoying than finishing THE WHOLE THING and having NO ONE who cares.  You know when something really good happens on “Lost” and you and your friend can all discuss?  Well, I was left high and dry.  No one knew the sadness inside of me as I came to terms with the finale.   (Which, while nothing spectacular, just felt right.  If you’ve watched, PLEASE feel free to discuss it with me via comments or email.)

Tip #4:  Deal with your Gilmore Girls withdrawals by getting a haircut exactly like one of the main characters.  Or maybe that’s just me.

(I was REALLY irritated when I left the salon and somehow still looked 35.  After scouring the Internet for millions of pictures to show my stylist and getting Rory’s 20 year old look stuck in my head, I was confused at the wrinkly face that peered back at me from Rory’s hairdo.)

Who needs a reunion show?  I look in the mirror, and I have Gilmore Girls every day.

I love that show, and you look just like her, I see no age difference. And I have to comment just a bit longer because I am the FIRST commenter. That never happens to me with your blog.

Jessica I am a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan, in fact I turned my entire family onto the show. Jeremy's not that into it, but he knows I am, so he goes along with it.

I would love to discuss the finale as I too feel a loss, but was most definitely happy with the outcome. Way to bring the Gilmore Girls back an, Adrianne is right there is no age difference at all. It's a great cut for you!

I like to take total and complete credit for your Gilmore Girls conversion. That season 1 set has spread the GG love to at least 15 different households. My friend here has it at her house right now.

Now I wish I was as good as spreading the gospel news as I am the Gilmore news...

Paris and Emily are my absolute favorites. I personally thing Rory is annoying and she really screwed up the Logan thing.

Oh, and you are adorable. YOU are not annoying like Rory. LOVE the bangs. Glad you talked your stylist into doing it!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gilmore Girls! Need proof - my cat's name is Rory. I own all the seasons on DVD and have lent them to a few friends to get them addicted. I also usually watch the reruns on ABC family if I can. I have to know - Logan - love him or hate him? I absolutely loved him and loved them together but I know a few friends hated him. I personally never liked Jess and Rory. I liked him more when he came back when she was in college but I was never a fan of them together. Anyway always nice to meet a fan, oy with the poodles already! :)

P.S. If I am ever in withdrawals I go to youtube. They have some funny videos with funny clips from the show!

I deleted the last comment. Anyway I was saying that last year's Tabernacle Christmas Concert had me more excited than any other due to Richard...I mean Edward Herrmann being there. He will always be Richard Gilmore to me!

I love the bangs!!! I think it is a fun change for you. As a matter of fact, I think I need to go cut myself some. (Mine are so long they no longer look like bangs) Maybe you would have been happier if they were a little more "blunt" ala Ilene (The Greenbean). She ROCKS her blunt bangs like a ROCKSTAR! :)

LOVED that show and totally miss it. My husband loved it too, though he will never admit around people. YOur hair is super cute!

I was (am) a Gilmore fan myself. Witty banter. Clever dialouge. Fun characters. Mark didn't like it, he would always say - no one ever talks like that. Hello? I totally talk like that. I am that clever.

I watched it in real time, while it was on tv. I had to wait every week for episodes and then wait out every long summer break. Your whole "buy the entire season and watch it at your leisure then sell it for a profit" idea sounds a lot easier.

I really liked Logan. I wanted them to be together - but felt like they left that pretty open.

I'm missing out on a series? Should I get the DVDs? Brilliant about the ebay thing. I'd never do it, but brilliant.

Your hair is great. I've never seen you with so many bangs. I like it.

I love your new dew. You look just like her, with beautiful blue eyes and all.

Never seen the show, but diggin' your new cut. Not everyone can pull off bangs but you absolutely can!

I'm always in need of something to get me through the long winter months here, maybe I'll check out ebay.

I'm a fan, too. I did a happy dance this summer when Maddy started watching the first season and got hooked. I secretly want to have a Lorelai/Rory relationship with my daughters. All I need is a crisp, witty script.

You look beautiful! Love the look on you...much better than the original Rory.

You look so fabulous, Jessica. The bangs are darling!

I haven't seen the end of the series. When it first came out on the now defunct WB, the little town in Virginia that I was living in didn't carry the WB on their cable. I joined the party late and began watching the Gilmore Girls when I moved to another town in Virginia. I watch it in syndication on the abc Family channel. I love the banter, too. The problem with syndication is they start the re-runs over from the beginning and never finish out the final season. I guess I need to rent the ending season. Please tell me Loreli (sp?) ends up with Luke, not Christopher.

I knew Ilene loves the show...from things she has said on her blog and because she used to live in Stars Hollow, Washington and then she moved to Stars Hollow, Idaho.

I'll have to put it on my list. Your hair is adorable, and when it's all said and done...Rory has nothin' on you.

Hey...I just noticed that Ilene has moved to Stars Hollow, CT.

GG is one of my all time favorite shows. I was so sad when it ended. They wrapped it up pretty well...but I wished Luke & Lorelai could have gotten married and had a baby together. *sigh* Maybe I need to rent them at the library...haven't seen any in a few years :)

I tried it once but never got hooked. Maybe I will again sometime...

I love the cut. It looks great, and the show is the greatest. We watched it live every season. So glad there are so many fans out there. Made me want to live in Stars Hollow!

For those of you who have not watched Gilmore Girls - run - do not walk to your nearest Target (unless you are clever like Jessica) and buy the first season (then you can sell that on eBay) and go from there! You will want to have these on hand especially when you are pregnant and cannot sleep or when you are not pregnant and the baby can't sleep. I personally plan on retiring in Stars Hollow and expect that all the characters will be there just as I know them.

My best high school friend is always trying to hook me on this show! I will try it again.

You are gorgeous!!!

Love the cut and pretty sure I will love the show. Since we only get 2 English channels, I may just have to set my sights on this one!

LOVE THE HAIR. I don't watch TV any more, not any big statement against it, just don't do it. But I know that actress and her hair is cute. You look young and cute and fantastic, love it. Nice!!!!

I love the show and your haircut too!! I'm Brazilian and got the whole show as a B'day present. My husband and son gave me. They know I love it! I've been watching the seasons again, and still cry, laugh, have fun and wish the show never ends...
