Resolved

Ryan sets these really difficult, crazy goals every New Years. They are not MY goals. They are HIS goals.

And yet interestingly enough, every January, my life gets harder because:

all of a sudden, Mr. Full 8 Hour Days Even Though I’m SALARIED can’t come home for lunch and won’t email during the day and rushes me off of the phone.

all of a sudden, Mr. I’m Getting 7 Hours of Sleep Every Night can’t watch 24 and so we’re a million episodes behind. (GoodReads pals, this is why I’m reading so much…my husband is snoozing every night so early, I have nothing else to do.)

all of a sudden, Mr. Do 2 Hours a Week EXTRA On My Calling, won’t be coming home right after church, so I’m left to wrestle hungry, stir-crazy kids all by myself on Sunday afternoon.Picture 159

all of a sudden, Mr. Half-Ironman has this crazy workout schedule that is ridiculous to try to work with

all of sudden, Mr. My Goals Aren’t Humanly Possible, is crabby and short with everyone, because he can’t do all of that stuff he’s trying to do.

February can’t come soon enough…

I hate January.
Cameron forced me to write one resolution, under the guise of Family Home Evening, that I already feel like a failure about.
I like making any life changing directions in December or March and I never call them resolutions.
It seems sad to hope for someone else's failure, but fail, Ryan, fail and give your wife back her sanity.

Perfection is not a good thing...especially if it's you that is trying to deal with someone else's perfectionism. My sympathy's and condolences.

You have 5 kids. You shouldn't have to do anything except for keep breathing and not scream too often.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic about 8-hour-days and not coming home for lunch. I know everything is relative, but I would give so much to have anything approaching that! Although, at least when my husband is in town, he does stay up way too late watching TV with me.

Overachievers are hard to live with.
I have a "thing" with resolutions. Hate them, in fact.
February is close...only one more L-O-N-G week.
Hang in there!

sometimes i wonder if hourly would be better than salaried?! there's no overtime, yet they work like there is! i guess i am just greatful to have a salary at this point in the economy (well, at least through february when they announce layoff's). hey, on second thought, i sure am grateful for salaried! i'll take it!

and how can one not have time for 24? there is always time for 24! where are his priorities?

That is why we are mortal, it will end someday...
He is just feeling his "I am now the FATHER of 5 and I want to be the stallion of the HERD!!" We've all been and ARE married to 'em!
His diligence will get him called as a Mission president someday and you will get to be his keynote speaker and reflect on the "Joys of motherhood..." SO keep this blog handy!!
You are just needing about 5 more hrs. in HIS day and those should be YOUR hrs. w/ him. Kidnap him on Wed. nights, even IF you have to drive to the church to get him and smile as you take him out of his meeting and say firmly, "Ryan, IT is HUSBAND/WIFE time!!!" All the others in the meeting will be jealous!!! HE SO LOVES YOU!!
ALOHA!
PS... Your MOM is coming over to visit, are you coming TOOO?

I think these guys must be related. I have given up on resolutions that stretch me too much - just a little fun goal. My hubby started training for a marathon & put on the high council about the same time. Needless to say, he is gone A LOT.

And I am glad you have GoodReads because I always need new material.

Sometimes I cry because my husband is so much better than I am...at everything...even setting resolutions.

I didn't set any resolutions this year. I can't handle that kind of failure.

This wasn't whiney, though. It was funny!

By the way, I hate it when my hubby rushes me off of the phone. I mean what else could he be needing to do besides listen to me prattle on about my very exciting life?

It's better than the alternative. His name is jeff and I wish he'd work only 8 hours. Try 14. Everydayfor the last 5 years. My fav part about this post is the rebuttal.

You are human, he is human. We all become immersed in our own struggles from time to time and become little narcissists. This will pass. All I know is that you have to make sacrafices for the other person often, and that you need to dedicate time for one another. I learned my lesson on those things.....that I can attest to.
