Tips from a Big Time Star

Yeah, well, since I was really famous and on TV today, I thought I'd share tips on how you too could be a big time star.

1. When you're at the park and your sister tells you that the news people are walking toward you guys and maybe you'll be on TV, believe her and just in case put on your lipstick.

2. When the newswoman comes up to you and asks if you have an opinion on anything, say "Yes." (because, really, you always do...)

3. Try not to gulp in the middle of word, twice, because you might be a teensy bit nervous.

4. Make sure when you tell the world that kids should eat less processed food rather than take cholesterol drugs, that the camera doesn't film the Cheetos and soda you brought for your kids. Instead quickly push the grapes and WHOLE WHEAT pb&j to the forefront of the picnic table.

5. Make sure your Super Healthy Looking Kids are dressed very cutely and that the Birthday Boy gets the starring role in the "kids playing in the sand" section.

6. Try to decide whether you want to watch, or not watch. Because if you don't watch, you'll never have to really know know if you looked dumb or not.

7. Of course you watch.

Oh, you want to watch? Well, if you insist... Click here. (Then scroll down to the second screen, look in the gray area and in the search area, type cholesterol...click on the play button there.)

Oh, and I hope.. .I REALLY hope since you were in WEST CENTRAL Spokane.. that you went to my FAVORITE BAKERY right across the street... DID YOU DID YOU?????

Um, my husband pushes cholesterol drugs.

Thanks for putting us out of a job again.

Wow, you are so famous. And I spotted your cute kids in the playground. You did a good job and I like your point about tending to jump to drugs to fix things rather then other natural ways.Um I thought you were pregnant. I don't see any fat or belly or round face. Hope you are doing well.

Wow, you're famous! Watching you on the video, it feels like I had a little mirl moment like I had with Gabi today. And yes, we talked about you. It was all good.

You look great! I agree with your point about drugs too. People just need to get their kids outside more.

By the way, did I mention you look great? If I didn't know it, I wouldn't believe you're pregnant.

You looked so cute! I had to click over and watch your whole interview. Excellent job under pressure.

You did great!

And I agree with you, by the way...

I SO agree with you.

AND your hair + outfit was fantastic. If someone approached me randomly at a park with my kids, I'm pretty sure I'd look homeless.

Look at you, miss famous! I thought you did great! And you do always have an opinion, so you might as well voice it!

Heather said...

You are famous!! I can't believe they let that other lady have more time than you.

Cami said...

You were awesome. That's pretty cool. Cholesterol drugs in kids is scary!

Erin said...

Nice! If we come to visit will you get our kids on t.v. too?? ;)

Did the kids all watch it and bask in the glory of fame? Too funny...when our kids were on the news last year (Easter Bunny visiting Milo at The Children's Hospital) they were completely unfazed by their brush with fame.

I couldnt agree more - that is why I encouraged MY son to do the little fun run. He isnt terribly athletic but I want him to have a healthier future that me :) THe best way to do that is for me to encourage him to be as active and healthy as possible... even when I cant keep up.

Yay!!! Yay!!! Woot! Woot!

I always knew you were a star!

You look so adorable, too. I love your hair...and shirt...and earrings!

Is Gabe the child in the red shirt? I am going to go watch the footage again.

Lauren in GA said...

I went back to the footage and I saw Emma in there, too. (at least I think it was her :) )

Super Star!

I agree with Rochelle. That felt like meeting you! FUN!

After seeing you, I couldn't focus on the rest of the interview. I was distracted by the Ice cream truck music in the back ground!

Jeanelle said...

You're so cute! And so funny you were at Manito Park -- whenever I go to Spokane, I stay with my friends who live right across the street. :)

shauna said...

I'm dumb and I can't find your clip. I got distracted by another story; "Wanna dress like a polygamist?????"

I guess I better go back and look again.

shauna said...

Oh. Found it.

Great with an on-the-spot-opinion. I would have choked on a flaming hot cheeto and told them to keep looking.

I thought you did well, & no bad snacks in view of the camera shot I saw! I have to agree with you. I'm certainly in need of losing weight & getting healthy, but meds or drastic surgery are not the answer. Common sense, will power, healthy foods, lots of water, & exercise ARE the answer. My poison? SODAS!!! I'm pretty sure those & fast foods are to blame in kids as well.

NICE WORK JESSICA! You look fabulous and the kids are active and healthy!!! love it

First the TV and now your blog has been quoted in the ripples section of the splash! You are officially a media maven!!!

Margaret said...

Way to go! But we all know you are already famous in blogland.☺

WHAT!!!!???? How did I miss this! You should have called me so I could have watched it!

Seriously, I'm gonna have to start paying to be your friend aren't I.

I hate it when I am the tiny bit nervous and gulp in the middle of my sentence. Sometimes I gag though and that is WAY WORSE!!

gab said...

OK...had to come out of vacation-hiding and say "Woohoo! You're famous."

Jacki said...

P.S.

I agree with you 100%!

Holy cow, why does the coolest stuff happen to you? I actually was on tv once and of course it was when I ran to the bank with my hair wet!!! They asked me what I thought about the bank merger, and I rambled on about how it would be more convenient for me with more atms, branchs, etc. Oh, the lady asked, so you feel ok that about 500 people will lose their jobs with this merger?

G and G Nut said...

Nice tv appearance.
So when do we get to hear what they quoted in the Splash???

Way to go!! I totally agree with your opinion, not that I want Ilene's husband out of a job!! :)

Laurie said...

You are a star! And so are Gabe and Emma! I too was entranced by the ice cream truck in the latter part.

Ilene said...

What? You made The Splash?

Your fame only grows.

The chocolate cake mention was payback for that great picnic you ladies had eating yummy Ina Flag cake without me.

Lauren in GA said...

Will you post what was written in the Splash?

I love how Elizabeth called you a media maven...I like the word maven...I want to use it in everyday conversation.

Good job! You looked and sounded great.
Those news people can be pushy. They once chased me down and cornered me at Sugarhouse park while I was running (that chick journalist was fast). Not only did I look horrible but I sounded not so articulate because I was out of breath, AND they doctored my comments by rearranging my words to completely fit their agenda. That was the last time I watched KSL.

Erika said...

I'm so proud of you. and from the reporters perspective - thanks for appearing normal and being willing to talk. (both of which are very challenging) yeah!

Stacy said...

You ARE a big time star...for letting all of us barge into your life for a whole week! Thank you so so so much - we had the BEST time with you and your family. You were the perfect hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the fun-packed trip (I can't wait to blog all about it, though I'm sure you will beat me to it). We love and miss you already! Thanks again
-Stacy
p.s. Hannah announced tonight that she would like to marry "Sef" - I believe it after the awfully lovey hug (she actually rested her head on his shoulder for a second)she gave him as we were leaving (were they not the cutest together??)

Jill said...

Awesome!! You're so cute and brave. Way to go. Good thing you didn't mention play groups at McDonalds. lol...we all do that one though :)
I agree with ya 100%

Adrianne said...

Is it okay to ask the news lady to wait while you put on yoru lipstick?? I'm sure she'd understand, better-looking people are more credible anyway...

but seriously, 8 year olds need cholesterol drugs? That might be a + for Argentina, where there is NO fast food and much less obesity.

AMY said...

I'm so glad you decided to watch.
