Follow your nose

Oh, Faith's been loved on around here. Don't worry about her being neglected as child #5.

A few days ago, I overheard this argument:
Jane: "I'm looking at her!"
Seth (right beside her, with a full view of baby): "NO! I want to look at her."
Jane: "No. I'm looking at her!"
I went over to explain to these two oh-so-rational human beings, that awesomely enough! they could BOTH see her at the same time. I reminded the two germ carriers/siblings, that because they had colds, they couldn't kiss her face.
"Why don't you guys just kiss her hand?"
Jane thought that was a great idea and proceeded to remind Seth LOTS of times that they were only kissing her hand.
I picked her up a few minutes later.
And smelled syrup all over those cute little cheeks and lips.
What? You didn't know that Faith LOVES waffles??

I'm sure it's Faith that's as sweet as syrup!! Those kids are so lucky!!

Well, at least they want to kiss her. That is always a good sign.

I was thinking that the post title was going to lead to a mustard seed poopy diaper somewhere it didn't belong. Syrup is much better. How could you just not eat her right up? You know, with all that cuteness and waffley goodness!

Speaking of syrup--don't you just want to strangle the mother who feeds her kids pancakes or waffles on fast sunday! It really tortures my fasting teenagers. And me.

Apologies extended--I'm the mother who feeds my kids waffles on fast Sunday.

So different to see how your kids respond to the new baby. My older boys were basically stand-offish for the first couple weeks. I don't think there was any animosity, just indifference. Maybe having older sisters brings out the nurturing?

Aw...she looks like she is smiling!!! Hope it isn't a sugar rush ;)

Your writing cracks me up...things like, "germ carriers/siblings" and the, "What? You didn't know that Faith LOVES waffles".

She looks so yummy...with or without syrup :)

Looks like your little nest is FULL again!!
And after all that concern that you'd have too much lonely time on your hands w/ school and all?
I heard syrup goes just fine w/ breast milk!
And germs that are delivered w/ love aren't contagious!
Thanks for the cute update! Those of us w/ college kids forget how cute our days used to be... We just get to help w/ papers due for a 4 week count down of finals!!! Have to just LOVE the spot we are in at the time!!! Aloha

Oh the days of being freaky about such things are long gone by the 5th kid, I'm sure. Next week, you'll be feeding her actual waffles, right? :-)

Ah, a fifth baby. Don't you think you'd have freaked out if your first baby had smelled like syrup after two kids loved and kissed her? That's the beauty of experience, my friend.

Darling picture.

I guess smelling like syrup is better than smelling like Doritos.

speaking from the vantage point of a fifth child, life at the caboose of the train could not be finer! you are done right?

So cute! Now that you have 5, I am sure you are soo much less paranoid about germs and the like. You should write a book!

Did I mention to you that when I brought you dinner, Seth latched onto my leg in a bear grip/hug and said, "I love you Meghann." It was very sweet.
