Sunday Summary

Monday was the big day we used our "Reading is the Ticket" tickets from the elementary school for a day at the local amusement park, Silverwood. Mom and Jane looked like this:

after realizing that because of Jane's limited height and Mom's limitLESS girth, we wouldn't be riding any major roller coasters.

The rest of the crowd felt really bad for us:

There is also a water park attached to Silverwood, and on a 95 degree day, we were happy to jump in.

On Tuesday, we had our Third Annual Raspberry Picking Party. Seth, while POOR at picking, was exceptionally hilarious: "Wazberry? You want to come out? You want to come out? Good! You came out!" and "Hey here's another jackpart (jackpot), Mom!" Gabe won the children's award by picking 1.75 lbs, Emma was second, with 1.5 lbs. Jane came in third with .75 lbs and Seth was disqualified for only picking green raspberries, or ones with stem and leaves still attached. We've been LOVING our raspberry muffins, raspberry jam and raspberry pie (thanks Jeni!) all week.

On Wednesday, Mom took the kids on three separate First-Day-of-School-Outfit shopping excursions. (I let them pick out one outfit for the first day of school and then shop for the rest of the stuff in October, when it's cheaper.) They NEVER pick the outfit I like best, so here are the ones I wish they'd picked--obligatory first day of school photos can show you the ones they chose.
On Friday, we did haircuts. The girls got very short ones and they like them, but Mom's kind of happy that hair grows!
We rounded out the weekend with a date (birthday present shopping--we have two coming up this week), pre-reunion house cleaning and the baptism/bbq of cute Maya Albrecht.
We're looking forward to our last hurrah before school starts on September 4th. We'll celebrate Gabe and Seth's birthday, have a lake baptism, a Grandpa Sherrill visit and a Romney reunion. You know you can't wait to hear next week's summary. Try to contain your excitement!

Holy cow, am I really the first one to comment on your blog? i am feeling the pressure to type fast, I know another one will pop up before I finish writing!!! Sorry i couldn't help myself!

OHHHH! I am seriously so jealous of the raspberry picking (did you have to mention raspberry muffins?)!!! I am obsessed with berries (why do they have to be the most expensive fruit? Why?)!

All you kids look awesome (Gabe - yellow is my fav. color, and Emma - brown my other fav. color, very cool!! Jane - you look adorable!!) WE are SOOO excited to see you guys! Only a couple of more days!!

You did remind me of one good thing about no one coming to see you is no deep house cleaning, even though my house REALLY needs it!

Dang it!! :( I knew that would happen!

Sounds great, except the no rollercoaster part. I'm jealous of the raspberries, there don't do that here in the desert. And I love the school clothes, but am dying to see what they picked out?

Um, you are still having too much fun without me. Stop it.

My brother called me today to tell me he will interview with Deaconess hospital (he's a doctor) in the next month or so. He's interested in the Spokane area because of all the bragging I do about you guys out there. Oh, how I miss you!

I hear ya about the rides. It was so sad going to Disney World and not being able to ride any of the run rides, so I treated myself to some good ice cream while I waited.

Oh, how fun and how I miss you guys! Wish I could be there for the exciting events this coming week!

Love the school shopping pictures and the raspberry adventure! Adorable children they are!

I would only be crying if I HAD to go on the rollercoasters. Seriously. They make me cry. I'm pathetic.

The school clothes are too cute. Could Gabe be any more darling in that yellow shirt and dark jeans? Hello, GQ! And I LOVE the girls cuts. I think short hair on little girls is sassy. (And don't you think that is fitting?!?!?!?)

i'm trying to type something here, but noe is pushing me aside so she can see why "her jane is sad". so tell jane noe feels for her, and if it's any consolation, i feel for you on the outfits. the ones you picked are adorable.

Hate it when kids have a mind of their own!

Roller coasters and I don't get along, I'll have to tell the story sometime when DISNEYLAND stopped and let me off a ride. Seriously.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm wazbewwies!!

I love that Seth talked to the wazberries...like they are his little fwiends...er, I mean friends.

Seriously, your family is so cute!

The picture of you and Jane is so adorable...I am sorry that you both couldn't ride. My son Adam tried to spike his hair up one year to make the height requirement but, I was too paranoid to let him ride even if he managed to get through. I am such a killjoy. I know...stick with your strengths, I always say.

You had me at raspberries. YUM! Never even thought of raspberry muffins.
Cam and I are planning a killer raspberry patch for next summer. I'm very excited.
I liked all the b2school outfits.

We are very behind on our back-to-school-prep work. I got a little nervous stomach reading about your haircuts and shopping escapades...

Hope we can get organized and look as cute as your gang.

Today was our first day of school.

Our last "hurrah" was a tad anti-climatic.

Cracking up about Seth and the wazberries!

All very cute and all very exciting. We have a raspberry picking day coming up too! The kids love it but, hopefully, this year they will be more in line with Gabe and Emma and a little less in line with Seth...;) Last year they were big on the "leaves and greenery still attached".

You guys are too fun! Way to end the summer with a bang. We just made a connection with some people in our ward who used to live in Spokane, before you moved to Utah. Ted and Eliza Arnoldus. They say, "Hi."

So jealous of the raspberries, and your cooking. and I love your red top at the amusement park. I'm feeling the same way about low on the totem pole blogging. but just b/c I got nothing. I didn't even do a sunday summary this week b/c I didn't want to see mean about being happy my kids were back to school. But we were ALL happy.

Just so you know this is me inviting myself to next years raspberry picking extravaganza.

Thanks for being there for us on Saturday. I know it was crazy with all my family there, but you guys are family to us and having you there meant alot.

Bridget said...

Ever year I fantasize about being able to pick out my kids' school outfits. It never happens.

Adrianne said...

Compared to me you are still a super blog poster! Love your red top, and annee is voicing a universal need. I seriously think you should write a parenting book. I need advice from you regularly.

Sarah just cut her hair the same length that Emma did--it's so cute. I'll have to post a picture of her on my family blog. I just asked her if she remembered playing with Emma and she doesn't--it was too long ago :(
