Random Acts of Kindness

This is my friend Laura:

We ran together on Wednesday morning and I complained at length about Faith.  (She is truly a difficult, strong-willed, demanding toddler, more than any kid I’ve ever had.)

Well, on Wednesday afternoon, she showed up at my house, with her van running and said: “Hey, I’m taking Katie to gymnastics.  Can I bring Faith along and just watch her while she runs around the gym?  I think she might enjoy it.”

Laura’s youngest is 4.  Laura has 4 kids.  Laura’s in the Relief Society Presidency.  Laura is going to back to school to be a nurse.  Laura could just sit at gymnastics and read a book or catch up on homework, but instead she just whisked away my difficult baby for an hour of chasing and cracker crumbs.

If that’s not true friendship, I don’t know what is.

Leave it to girls. . . Kaylie is by far the most difficult baby I have had as well. It is nearing me to the funny farm every day. I am always grateful to make it through the day without surrendering completely. Heaven help us get through these girls.

Laura sounds like a wonderful friend. Sometimes we all need just a little break from our kids...especially the ones that give us the most grief! Glad you have a great friend in her :)

Wow! That was seriously one of the nicest things a friend could do for a fellow Mommy :) Very, very cool!

i try to be like that, but i have to confess i mostly do it because i want people to reciprocate and take my kids for me.

which is why they don't.

That is so sweet. And you need a babysitting co-op to give you some breathing room.

I have yet to meet a horrible "Laura".

Which is why my daughter is named "Laura." Because I could never give my child a name with which I had a negative association.

Now, my hope is that my Laura doesn't ruin her name for anyone else.

What a truly thoughtful person. How often does someone really listen and figure out what you need without you ever having to ask? I love that.

Wish I lived closer...
I'd whisk her off your hands for a morning or two.
I'm SO glad u have a good girl friend to do that for you!!
REMEMBER she's the youngest WATCHING the actions of the "olders" and will pull whatever she can to keep up w/ them...
She has 4 pairs of eyes watching her and reporting to you SO when she gets you ALL to herself she has "new tricks" to show you SO be entertained and enjoy her TUFF two's and BOSSY three's and she'll be 5 going on 8 before you turn around 3 times!!
ALOHA

That's what happens to sweet people like you, sweet friends come along and help out. Everyone needs a good friend like that. I'll never forget the morining Spencer's dad randomly came and took Carter for the morning. It was a complete answer to prayer.
