Why it's not good to have your husband working from home while he waits for his company to lease an office space:
1. He uses your laptop all day, every day and only lets you use it at night when he knows you are not a night person and cannot come up with decent blog posts at night.
2. He's distracting. You walk by the room and decide that he looks like more fun than the laundry you were about to do.
3. You are very aware that he can hear all aspects of your not-so-stellar parenting.
4. He knows about the amount of napping that goes on at home by you.
5. No clean-up-right-before-he-gets-home-so-he-thinks-you-have-it-all-together.
Why it's good to have your husband working from home while he waits for his company to lease an office space:
1. Gas prices. Sheesh.
2. When you are potty training, he cleans up the poopy underpants while you clean up the poopy 2 year old.
3. When you are making a hugely difficult castle cake on the same day you are potty training (I have been doing lots of hand washing, okay?), he helps you transfer the huge crumbling mess to a more stable surface AND keeps telling you how good it looks.
4. He watches the kids during naptime so you can buy the stuff for the princess party you are having tomorrow.
5. You can walk into his "office" 14 times while you are trying to find something that you can actually fit your 4 month pregnant self into, crying, and he'll tell you you look great EVERY time.

The good definitely outweighs the bad - I hope your still getting your naps in and more even because he is there.
Thanks for the shout-out for hand washing, but really, the thought never crossed my mind.
For sure there will pictures of this cake, right???
My husband has a home office, it's been a love hate kind of thing. Lots of goods and bads.
We have a little of that sometimes, too. The good and the not so good! Princess party & castle cake?? Tell more please! I want to see a pic of that cake!!
I love it/hate it when my hubby is home during the day. The girls love it, he doesn't make them follow the rules.
Whenever Zach tries to work at home, he never gets ANYTHING done because he cannot for the life of him sit and just let me take care of things.
I love him for it, but seriously. I do this everyday!! Sheesh.
I sound like I am complaining... but really I just feel bad that he is better than me at everything... :)
I always try the mad dash to clean up everything before he gets home so I look like I have it all under control...I think he is onto me, though...
I feel a lot like Shally...my husband IS a lot better than me at just about everything...I am better at curling my eyelashes, though. Oh, and I can shave my legs in record breaking time...I doubt he could even hold a candle to me in that arena.
The good the bad and the ugly of having a husband home... I like it for about a DAY... and then he needs to go to work.. and then he can do it another day.. but, only one day at a time..... Please...
Oh and you girls that dash to clean up are CRAZY!!! Don't you want any sympathy??? That is how I get 2 hours of free time each night! I TRY to make it look as crazy as possible!!! :)
I'm with Lindsey--no mad dashing to clean up before he gets home. He needs to see what I've dealt with all day, and men are visual you know.
I especially love it when my husband gets the idea to try a new parenting technique when he's home, like say, no TV during breakfast. Then he can't figure out why the boys are hitting each other and screaming like maniacs.
Ryan, get off the computer. I miss Jessica.
However, it sounds like you are being very nice to her so I guess you are forgiven.
I still miss Jessica, though. Can you develop a program to beam her and the LL girls over to my house?
I work at the same school as my hubby, it sucks. I get to hear him complain about my boss and the kids I adore. I miss the good old days of him having an office in another town. Sigh.
Oh, I hear ya loud and clear on those lists. When Nathan works at home I feel like I am constantly having to distact my kids elsewhere so they don't bother dad. But then I am happy when I can run drop off a kid somewhere and not have to drag the others along with me.
My husband works at home. He has his own office though that he can shut the door. And he is not allowed to touch my pink laptop :)
Nice, nice wife to talk about the good. Jeff fantasizes about working from home- he doesn't have an "office" hello, I need a guest room, and he talks so loud on the phone in the napping room. Not acceptable. I tell him Starbucks in Dville is his home office. He buys it. You guys must be nice to Ryan. We are far too annoying.
You do look great! Can't wait for princess party recap!
Ryan, you have a choice. Either you can let Jessica post more often OR you can take care of all the poopy pants in the house OR if can't decide quickly, we will choose for you.
Love and Logic works for adults too, right?!
Cute post!
And he probably cannot keep his hands off you at naptime....
Kendon doesn't have an office either. (But it's not temporary.) Some days I love it, some days not so much. It's hard to keep your blogging addiction a secret when he could walk in the door any minute!!!
And, Gabi is right. Kendon's always trying to take "advantage" of nap time. TMI?
Oh I love having Brad at home in my business.
(but it sort of bugs me that he stays in his garments all day and is like, why did you have people over? get dressed buddy. Manage it.)
Mark has worked out of our home for our entire marriage . . . I love it. (Me: "Hey Mark, I'm running to the mall for a second. The kids are just taking a nap - I'll be back in 2 hours.")
As the kids are getting older he is beginning to see just how easy my life is. (Him: you are going to lunch again?) He is off golfing with a Dr right now BTW so it all comes out in the wash.
I wish my husband could work at home. Last semester, I think I saw him (awake) for about an hour each day. And he was usually eating, studying, or hurrying off to the next thing he had to do.
I have space available to lease...
Does Ryan want it? Seriously?
He cant use my laptop though... I'm busy not working with it for the moment!
You are just lucky because Ryan ROCKS in general whether he is at home or at work. I always think working from home sounds so amazing....I am jealous!
If my husband tried to work from home, he would NEVER get anything done. The kids and I wouldn't let him.
I want to see this cake!
Jason starts his shift schedule again, so he'll be home during the days every once in a while. I'm SO excited, but kind of nervous it's going to mess up our schedule!!
Sounds like the pros outweigh the cons! It would be tough to share a computer tho!
Oh, I'm with you on #3 and #4! I have 3 naps per day right now.
okay, I don't think I could handle a home office. I already think Mario "stops-by" too many times a day and it interrupts my flow... does this mean he accepted the offer to start his own company with the other guy?? Clearly we need to talk on the phone!
Jessica,
Michael RETIRED again...
The last 9 years of his resume looks like he "retires"
a LOT!
SO he's home!!
It was a bit of an adjustment for the first week,
then we went to the beach for a week and
NOW,
he's off to the mainland for a week.
He WILL be ready to GO to work after the 4th week
of being "around the house..."
Guys just LIKE the office concept, so breathe and
be ready to be the house widow again SOON!
We ALL love to read your "post" any time of the week, SO don't stress the consistancy of entrys...
we're just lined up to read whenever!
ALOHA!
I am totally guilty of the "clean-the-house-right-before-husband-gets-home-so-he-thinks-you-have-it-all-together."
