Leave taking

Is there anything sadder than when your mom leaves after staying for 8 very helpful days to help you with the baby (and, more importantly, all the other kids)?

She left yesterday and, when I got back in the van, after hugging her, Seth had the biggest pout and tears running down his cheeks. I joined him. Seth and I comforted ourselves by saying: "Gwah-ma will be back for Cwistmas."

I cannot WAIT to be a Grandma that is missed when they leave, that's the greatest compliment of all!!

More pictures of Faith please, I am living vicariously with pictures of Faith and the lovely Laura!

Not to depress anyone, but it's more sad when you're mom can't even come and see the baby. I had my mother in law this year and I loved having her there. It always makes me cry when the help leaves.

Seth has a way with words. Aw. I am so happy for you that Gwah-ma will be back at Cwistmas time. She will be happy to know how much she is missed.

Little Faith is just, DARLING!

I hope you are feeling okay. I am always overwhelmed after a new baby comes home.

I know exactly what you mean. I think I still cry every time my mom leaves, even when it's not after a new baby. I hope my kids like my that much when I'm the grandma.

yeah. there's a certain dispair that sets in once you realize you suddenly have to do your own laundry and prepare meals for your family again.
or in seth's case, that you've probably just lost the only adult buddy you had who actually wanted to play with you anymore.

There really IS nothing sadder!!

I always think... how will I ever be able to take care of my kids the way my mom takes care of us?

Really. She is amazing.

Sounds like your mom is too... :)

I feel your pain...parent's leaving is the worst. I only get to see mine once a year at most and whenever they/I leave I always break down. I try to wait until they are gone since all the women in our family cry if anyone else is crying. Good luck with that cute little one and the other four beauties you have.

8 days??? How lucky are you. Mom's are the best. I hope my kids want me to stay as long as possible when they have kids. Isn't it nice to have someone take care of YOU for a change?

Big congrats to you! Nothing cuter than a yummy baby with a fantastic flower on her head and a fun grandma to hold her every waking minute. Start the Christmas music now!

your mom is beautiful. You look a LOT like her. I thought your kids did all the household chores anyway. Can Faith change her own diaper yet? :)

why does your mom look like a super model and not a Grandma? no fair. I'm going to need way more details re: new baby/delivery than you have thus far provided. give me a time line or something. I'm sure you have tons of time to get around to this. xo

Congrats on Faith's arrival and looking so stellar and (surprisingly) well-rested at church!(I saw that energy drink stashed in your diaper bag!!)You rock! I hate the day mom leaves...

What a sweet little boy that Seth is! When my mom left after helping with our last baby's birth, it didn't help any that we severely underestimated how far away Amish Country was from the Philadelphia airport (we don't live there, but were living in DE for the summer so that's why we weren't familiar). Anyway, my mom missed her flight! Adding stress to an already sad situation wasn't super helpful. (Luckily she didn't have to pay for a re-booked flight). Anyway, at least she gets to come back for Christmas!

I still cry when my mom leaves (even if it wasn't for a baby.) I miss her so.

I agree with Jeni..more pictures. Ryan? Could you get on that, PLEASE!?!?!

I love this picture of your mom. I'm glad you got to have her for eight days. What a blessing!
I think we're all clamoring for more pictures!
Hope you are feeling well.

I'll come hold her every day if you want. I probably won't do laundry or cook, but I'll hold the baby so you can. Deal?

So Ryan might look a little more bleary-eyed when I see him at the gym in the mornings? Grandmas are the best--Christmas will be here before you know it.

NOTHING is better than mom hanging around after a baby. I am glad that you had time to play and coo over your new one with her.

So, I have happy news! You will be down here before Christmas and I will be up there after Christmas! We are coming up to Spokane for a visit, hooray! I should say I am excited to visit with Dan's family but that is lie. I am dying to see you and everyone else!
