Safety First

Last Thursday morning, while driving in the car--
Aunt Bekah: "Jessica, do you know that they crawl out of that broken screen in their room all the time?"
Jessica (thinking she must be exaggerating): "Emma. You don't crawl out of the screen (and on the roof) in your room do you?"

(The window and ledge that were holding stuff and Emma, apparently)
Emma: "Just when we need to get stuff."
Jessica: "Get stuff??! What stuff?"
Emma: "Stuff that fell out."
.
Thursday afternoon--

(The fixing of the screen. Notice Emma's sadness. How will she ever get her stuff? Also, worth mentioning: the little kid in the background was later revealed to have been found beginning to climb out to get stuff, too. Yikes.)

You could always just install pigeon spikes to discourage it. :)

Glad that's fixed!

No stinking way. Watch out for teenage-hood!

Emma is so her mother's daughter, eh?

Ha, so funny! Seriously that is what happens in a house full of more than 1 or 2 kids...you just cannot keep track of that many little human beings....thus, another congrats to Jessica for surviving it and loving it...I could never do it!! Oh and glad you fixed the screen because Emma is almost at the age of sneaking out to meet boys and that screen could come in handy as her secret exit/entrance!! Ha again!

God bless the little tattle-tale. Scary, scary stuff, there.

No way! I wonder why the neighbors didn't tell you earlier. They must have thought you were such a great mom! Ha Ha. My kids used to do that when we had a one story house. Except they didn't crawl out, they would dance in between the blinds and the glass when they were supposed to be sleeping, taking naps, in time out. The neighbors loved the show!☺

...and thank goodness heavenly father watches our kids some of the time because I just can't keep up with my four every minute.

That's scary! Another reason why I am not a fan of two-story houses.

Killjoy.

Just kidding...

When Evan was 3, someone rang the doorbell...when I went to see who it was I was greeted by a semi-frantic woman that happened to be driving by and saw him climbing out the upstairs window onto the front porch roof that was right below his window. (I had heard him the whole time over the baby monitor in his room and I thought he was just playing...he didn't make any suspicious noises). Anyway, I raced upstairs and he had already climbed down and when I scolded him he said cheerfully, "I just wanted to see the whole world..."

For pity sake Evan did you want to see the whole world from the Heavens because you fell and it was, "curtains" for you? Or did you just want ME to suffer a heart attack?

Oh my. I would so be freaking out. That is insane! At least you found out now before you found a limp body on your driveway.

I have a neighbor whose at the time 4 yr old daughter fell out of a second story window and just about died. She was in cardiac arrest but a construction worker who was outside came over to do CPR and revived her. Don't you love hearing those horror stories. Sorry.

Very cool that you did not freak out. I can tell you are a seasoned mommy. nice job. Glad you got that taken care of. Very funny blog, by the way.

We too have a house full of roof crawlers, (and teenaged sneaker- outers....) Yep, good times.

I have spent a small fortune replacing screens. My children aren't the ones who ruin them though. Gremlins or the kids next door, but not my angels.

That's some pretty sneaky stuff. How'd it get out there? Glad you found out and the stuff and your kids can now be safe.

"STUFF?"
You mean like Barbies who like to walk on a tight rope?
Glad that "cool" aunt Bekah came to visit so she could "heart2heart" with little nieces who live on the 2nd floor right OVER cement!!
Could go there on a few "fun" Sammy stories about
"flying" off the 2nd story balcony onto our trampoline during
a family meal prayer and I think it was JENNA who had her eyes opened and ratted on him upon the AMEN!!
I think that each child comes with a special "safety"
angel so US moms can get through our days with a smile on our face... Jessica, didn't you have a "broken" screen on the front window of your Pleasanton house??? Or was it the house in Tracy?
Can't remember...... Ha, Ha!
I DO KNOW I had a trampoline guardian angel for my group of kidlets!!!
Aloha

That scares me!!!!! But did Ryan ever tell you his scaling the roof mission experience? The details are fuzzy but even more dangerous than this! I think the scaleing the roof they must get from him.

Seriously, my neighbor 5 year old is always pushing up against the screen window two stories up and I'm always yelling get back. He must know me as the freaked out lady...trust me, your neighbors will thank you for the prison bars on the window...
